American Airlines Shell Fuel Rewards: Earn a 250-Mile Bonus, Plus 3X Miles and Loyalty Points on Gas

If you're looking for extra ways to earn American Airlines miles, one of the easiest ways to do so is by signing up for the Shell Fuel Rewards program and filling up your tank. Through October 3, 2026, new members can earn a 250 AAdvantage mile bonus — which is in addition to the bonus miles and credit card points you'll earn when visiting the gas station.

Earn 250 Bonus AA Miles, 3X Redeemable Miles, and 3X Loyalty Points at Shell

If you've never signed up for the Shell Fuel Rewards program, now is a good time. New registrants who enroll and elect to earn miles instead of Fuel Rewards points can earn 250 bonus AA miles after completing their first fill-up at a Shell gas station (five gallons or more) by October 3, 2026.

Better yet, that's not all the miles you'll earn as a Fuel Rewards member. If you forego earning Fuel Rewards points (and, by extension, free Fuel Rewards Gold status), Shell will award you 3X AA miles and 3X Loyalty Points per gallon of fuel you purchase.

There's no limit to the number of miles and Loyalty Points you can earn through the Shell American Airlines partnership. But at most, you can earn rewards on up to 20 gallons per fill-up. That maths out to a maximum of 60 AAdvantage miles and 60 Loyalty Points per trip. It's an incremental way to earn AA elite status and get closer to that next award redemption.

If you're interested in earning AAdvantage miles on Shell fill-ups, open the Fuel Rewards app after enrolling in the program and select American Airlines under “Link Partner Accounts.” It's that easy.

After you get gas, you'll get your bonus miles within 7-10 business days. The one-time new member bonus, however, will post within 45 days of completing the offer requirements.
