While some hotel programs offer discounts on paid stays, it's less common to find discounted award stays or points sales on hotel redemptions. Virgin Hotels — a small but mighty collection of hotels around the world — occasionally runs promotions that let you book stays for fewer points. Combine that with generous transfer bonuses from credit card programs, and your next stay could cost a lot less than you originally expected.
Here are the properties currently available at discounted rates — and how to earn the Virgin points needed to book them.
Score Discounted Award Stays at These Virgin Hotels
Virgin Hotels regularly discounts select award stays throughout the year, and while the participating locations change, there's almost always an opportunity to save some of your hard-earned points for a future trip.
Bookings must be made at least 7 days in advance of your stay — so no last-minute bookings if you want to take advantage of these promos. Cancellations must be processed at least 72 hours ahead of check-in or you'll lose the points used for that reservation. Promotional redemption rates do not include breakfast. Taxes and fees are not covered by the points redemption and must be paid at the hotel.

To take advantage of these promo rates, all you need to do is log into your Virgin Red account (or create one if you still don't have one) and head to the Virgin Hotels Rewards Stays webpage, where all current promotions are listed.
And if you haven't already done so, link your Virgin Red account to The Know (Virgin Hotels' bespoke loyalty program) and once you find the hotel promo you'd like to take advantage of, click on it to begin your redemption.
Follow the reservation prompts and make sure to toggle the “Pay with Virgin Points” option on. Once you enter your travel dates (which must be within the promo window), the site will confirm availability. Continue through the reservation steps, and your points will be deducted once you're done booking.
You can learn more about booking these and all of the other Virgin Hotels, including Virgin Limited Edition Hotels using points on our Virgin Hotels guide.

Easy Ways to Earn More Virgin Points
There are plenty of ways to earn Virgin points and grow your balance, including flying with Virgin Atlantic, staying at Virgin Hotels, and even sailing with Virgin Voyages.
But that's not all. Virgin Red also offers its own credit card to help you earn points on everyday purchases, and Virgin is a transfer partner of several major loyalty programs, making it easy to convert transferable rewards points into Virgin points.
Virgin transfer partners
If you have points on any of the following programs, you can take advantage of generous transfers into Virgin Red. Most of these transfer at a one-to-one ratio, which means you're getting great value from these transfers.
Many times throughout the year, credit cards will offer transfer bonuses to Virgin, allowing you the chance to stretch your points even further. Check out our page on the current transfer bonuses to see if there's one going on right now.
