Cathay Pacific was founded in 1946, so this year marks the airline's 80th birthday. To celebrate, Cathay is offering a mileage rebate on all Cathay-operated award tickets booked until August 27, 2026. This rebate is valid on any flight between Hong Kong and a Cathay destination worldwide in both economy and premium economy.

Get up to 80,000 Miles Back on Cathay Pacific Award Redemptions
For bookings made by August 27, 2026, Asia Miles members can earn an 800-mile rebate for every 5,000 miles they redeem, up to 80,000 miles back per member — effectively up to 16% back. This promotion is valid on one-way, round-trip, and open-jaw journeys between Hong Kong and anywhere in Cathay's extensive network.
Travel must take place between September 10 and December 10, 2026. Economy and premium economy tickets qualify, and mixed-cabin tickets are eligible. Rebated miles will be returned to your account after travel is completed — but no later than January 31, 2027.
Terms and conditions
- You must register for this offer and book your ticket by August 27, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. HKT (11:59 a.m. ET).
- Get an 800-mile rebate for every 5,000 miles redeemed, up to 80,000 miles per member.
- The eligible travel period is between September 10, 2026, and December 10, 2026
- The offer is valid for Cathay members who joined on or before August 24, 2026.
- This offer applies to all Cathay Pacific marketed and operated flights.
- One-way, round-trip, and open-jaw tickets are eligible. Multi-city tickets with transit are excluded.
- Economy and premium economy tickets are eligible.
- Only standard awards booked through the Cathay website are eligible.
- Miles rebate will be credited by January 31, 2027.

Award Pricing After the Rebate
Cathay Pacific has undergone several program devaluations over the years. Business class awards are much more expensive than they used to be, but economy awards are still pretty reasonable, especially when you factor in a promotion like this.
Here's a look at Cathay's route map to give you an idea of just how far you can go with this promotion. You could fly from the U.S. to Hong Kong, then head to Europe before making your way back to the U.S. on a different carrier.
Keep in mind that you’ll still need the full mileage amount available when you book, as the rebate is credited back to your account after you complete your travel.
You can fly from the West Coast in economy for 27,000 miles plus 1,626 HKD in taxes and fees (~$207.20) or premium economy for 52,000 miles plus the same taxes and fees. The rebate is calculated for every 5,000 miles you spend, so you'd get a 4,000-mile rebate on the economy flight or an 8,000-mile rebate on the premium economy flight.
In other words, you can effectively fly from the West Coast to Hong Kong for 23,000 miles in economy or 44,000 miles in premium economy.
Flights from the East Coast are much more expensive. You can fly in economy for 38,000 miles (plus the same 1,626 HKD in taxes and fees). That would give you a 5,600-mile rebate, bringing your effective cost to 32,400 miles. If you prefer premium economy, you'll spend 78,000 miles. After factoring in a 12,000-mile rebate, your actual cost is 66,000 miles.

If you’re sitting on a bunch of Asia Miles — or transferable points — this could be a solid opportunity to save on fall travel. Just keep in mind that Cathay Pacific flights can come with high fuel surcharges, so make sure to factor that into the overall value of your redemption.
