The Virgin brand has a presence across several industries, including hospitality. Virgin has two distinct hotel offerings: Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition.

Virgin Hotels is a small hotel chain focused on urban, lifestyle-driven properties, with buzzy restaurants, rooftop pools, and design-forward rooms rather than sprawling resorts. It still has a relatively small footprint compared to larger chains like Hyatt, Marriott, or Hilton, but it’s growing.

Meanwhile, Virgin Limited Edition is a separate collection of ultraluxury retreats that operates very differently from Virgin Hotels.

So, how do you book these stays with points? Here's everything you need to know.

Where To Find Virgin Hotels

First, let’s take a look at the small but growing footprint of Virgin Hotels. Despite being a U.K.-based brand, most of its properties are in the U.S., with just a handful located overseas.

Where To Find Virgin Limited Edition Hotels

Virgin Limited Edition Hotels are billed as Sir Richard Branson's collection of unique, luxury retreats and are located in some of the most breathtaking settings in the world. With two private islands, tented camps, vineyards, ski lodges, game reserves, and safari lodges, no two stays are meant to feel the same.

There are only a handful of properties across three regions worldwide.

How Points Redemptions Work Across Virgin’s Hotel Portfolio

Travelers have a few ways to book Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition properties. Virgin Hotels participates in Virgin Red — a loyalty program that's shared across Virgin Group brands like airline Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Voyages, and more. Aside from its own loyalty platform, you can book these hotels via two other loyalty program partners.

How to book using Virgin Red

Virgin Hotels has its own loyalty program, The Know, which can be linked to your Virgin Red account to use points for bookings. Once linked, you can search for stays as you normally would — just enter your destination and dates, then toggle the “Pay with Virgin Points” option to check availability.

Booking Virgin Limited Edition stays with points is a bit different — and more complex. These are more aspirational properties, so higher redemption rates and a few extra steps are naturally part of the process.

Here’s how it works through Virgin Red:

  1. Contact Virgin Limited Edition at 877-577-8777 or via email at enquiries@virginlimitededition.com to confirm availability and points price. You'll need to share your Virgin Red ID or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club number.
  2. Virgin Red will contact you to reconfirm all the details and to redeem your Virgin Points.
  3. Virgin Limited Edition will send the booking confirmation for your stay.
  4. Provide your Virgin Red ID or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club number when checking in to receive a room upgrade, subject to availability.

Most Virgin Limited Editions hotels require a minimum of two nights (though others require longer stays), and points redemptions are only possible during low season (which varies from property to property).

How to book using iPrefer

I Prefer is the loyalty program for the Preferred Hotels collection. To see how many points you’ll need for a free night, log in to your account and search for your destination and dates.

When you find a participating hotel, select the “Use I Prefer Points” option to view the redemption rate. The number of points required varies based on the cash price, so it’s worth checking availability before transferring points.

While I Prefer does show participating Virgin Hotels as bookable with points, those reservations don’t always go through. Availability can appear in search but fail at checkout or disappear entirely, suggesting broader limitations with the platform rather than a one-off error. It’s best to confirm availability before transferring points.

Points can be transferred from both Citi ThankYou Rewards and Capital One. Capital One transfers at a 1:2 ratio to I Prefer, while Citi recently reduced its transfer rate from 1:4 to 1:2 as of April 19, 2026, cutting the value of those transfers in half.

How to book using Choice

Choice Privileges has a partnership with Preferred Hotels that allows you to use Choice points when booking select properties. To book, search by destination or region on the Choice website and follow the prompts to complete your reservation.

You can transfer points into Choice from several programs. American Express Membership Rewards and Capital One transfer at a 1:1 ratio, while Wells Fargo Rewards transfer at a 1:2 ratio. Citi ThankYou Rewards recently reduced its transfer ratio from 1:2 to 1:1.5 as of April 19, 2026.

How to book using Hilton Honors

Only one of the properties participates in the Hilton Honors program — the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, part of Curio Collection by Hilton. Because the Hilton Honors program prices redemptions dynamically, the points cost of your reservations will ebb and flow.

The simplest way to book a Hilton award stay is online at Hilton.com or through the Hilton app on your phone. To search for points rates, just check the “Use Points” box in the Special Rates options. Enter your desired destination (in this case, Las Vegas, where the only Hilton-bookable Virgin Hotels is located) and preferred dates. Then click the “Find a Hotel” button.

Remember that, since this is a Curio Collection by Hilton, all of your elite benefits apply.

You can transfer Hilton Honors points from American Express Membership Rewards at a 1:2 ratio and Bilt at a 1:1 transfer ratio.

How To Earn Virgin Red Points

Virgin Red is a multibrand rewards ecosystem, which means you can earn points across a bunch of Virgin companies — not just one airline or hotel. You can earn Virgin Red points through credit card spend, flying with Virgin Atlantic, staying at Virgin Hotels, sailing with Virgin Voyages, shopping with Virgin partners and even transferring from other loyalty programs.

We’ll focus on two of the simplest ways to quickly build your Virgin Red balance.

Transfer partners

Virgin Red is a transfer partner of several credit card programs, so it's very likely you'll already have a way to top up your balances with at least one of the credit cards currently in your wallet.

The Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard® offers a lucrative welcome bonus: Earn 60,000 points with the Virgin Red Rewards Mastercard® when you open a new account and spend $4,000 in the first 90 days.

It also has a reasonable annual fee of $99 and earns 3 points per dollar spent with Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Hotels, and Virgin Voyages; 2 points per dollar spent on dining, at grocery stores, on select streaming services, and for EV charging; and 1 point per dollar spent elsewhere.

Bottom Line

While Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition properties have a limited footprint, they tend to be in rather popular destinations. If you happen to be visiting any of the cities where you can find one, or have been dreaming of one of the idyllic Limited Edition stays, it's worth checking which of your hard-earned points can get you there.

Whether that’s through Virgin Red, Hilton Honors, or Choice Privileges — or by transferring points into these programs — there’s usually a way to make the numbers work.
