Miles & More is the loyalty program for Lufthansa and several other airlines in the Lufthansa Group. Each month, the program offers what it calls Mileage Bargains, giving travelers the chance to book discounted round-trip award tickets for about half the usual mileage.

However, the December 2025 edition of Mileage Bargains looks a little different than what you might be used to. Earlier this year, Miles & More switched to dynamic pricing and announced it was eliminating the Mileage Bargains program altogether to simplify its award options. Surprisingly, the program was brought back after a short hiatus, but the deals since the relaunch have been underwhelming.

And this month (like all the others since) is no exception. In fact, it takes the crown for being the worst.

That said, if you're wondering what deals are available through Mileage Bargains this month, here's what you need to know — and what you might consider booking instead.

What Is Miles & More Mileage Bargains?

Miles & More Mileage Bargains — also referred to as Lufthansa Mileage Bargains — offer discounted award flights on select routes, sometimes by over 50%. Miles & More offers discounts on economy, premium economy, and business class awards, depending on the route.

These monthly discounts apply to specific origin and destination pairs. Travelers can filter available routes by origin, destination, cabin, airline, and other criteria.

And although dynamic pricing throws a wrench into things, you can book awards from North America to destinations in Europe starting at the following rates (plus taxes and fees) — if they're available to begin with.

  • 25,000 miles round-trip in economy class.
  • 42,000 miles round-trip in premium economy.
  • 61,000 miles round-trip in business class.

Miles & More Mileage Bargains Examples

If you remember the heyday of Miles & More Mileage Bargains, with hundreds of eligible routes in business, premium economy, and economy class, the December 2025 offerings might feel a bit disappointing — just like last month’s did.

This month is especially weak, since there aren’t any routes from the U.S. or Canada. Most of what’s available is for travel within Europe, so this batch of deals won’t help if you’re trying to get to Europe in the first place.

However, not all is lost, as you can still leverage Miles & More for cheap travel to Europe. And possibly for even less than you’d pay for a Mileage Bargain.

For example, Miles & More charges as few as 88 miles from the U.S. to Europe per way plus taxes and fees. That means you could book something like Edelweiss economy from Tampa (TPA) to Zurich (ZRH) for 88 miles plus $208.50. Cheap awards like this are the biggest benefit of the program adopting dynamic pricing.

Business class is more expensive, starting at 42,703 miles per way through Miles & More. These aren’t Mileage Bargain rates, but they're still pretty decent. The catch, though, is that taxes and fees are on the steeper side. But there's a workaround, as you can redeem more miles for some flights and pay less out of pocket.

For instance, you could book Toronto (YYZ) to Warsaw (WAW) in Lufthansa business class for 42,703 miles plus CAD 1,249 — or instead book LOT Polish business class for 62,500 miles plus CAD 160. Here, redeeming the extra miles might be worth it.

Earning Miles & More Miles

Earning Miles & More miles is now a little easier than it used to be. On November 3, 2025, the program became a 1:1 transfer partner of Rove Miles. This is a big deal, as there aren't many other ways to earn Miles & More miles.

If you're short on Rove Miles, remember that you can always apply for the Miles & More® World Elite Mastercard®. This $89-annual-fee card comes with an 50,000-mile sign-up bonus after spending $3,000 on purchases and pay the annual fee, both within the first 90 days.

You can also buy Miles & More miles (sometimes with a bonus or discount) to top off your account with Miles & More miles. Alternatively, you can sign up for ASmallWorld Prestige membership to get a couple hundred thousand Miles & More miles in one fell swoop.

If you need to combine forces with a “player 2“, the Miles & More program supports mileage pooling for families.

Our Take

Miles & More Mileage Bargains offers deep discounts on flights across a variety of routes, airlines, and cabin classes. This month’s offerings are far from the best we have seen (they're actually the worst!), but given that the program seemed destined for the chopping block in June, we're just surprised it still exists in the first place.

But if you have a stash of miles to burn and can make this month’s intra-Europe options work, keep in mind that the booking window closes on December 31, and travel must be completed between January 1 and February 28, 2026.

Most importantly, be aware that these awards are non-changeable and non-refundable, so you should be certain of your plans before booking. Although the mileage requirements can be significantly lower than standard rates, taxes and fees are not discounted and can add up quickly, even in economy.

The fees on the “Bargains” make them a prohibitive joke. The Best Flex fares are no fees and about the same as United.

    Sarthak majithia says:

You mention the taxes and fees are high. Is it normal to see $2k+ for a roundtrip ticket? That doesn’t sound like a good deal at all.

    tassojunior says:

how do you get an estimate of the taxes/surcharges?

      Ryan Smith says:

You can check a few things: 1: You can check the flight here https://matrix.itasoftware.com/search and see the taxes/fees. 2: Check the cash price of the ticket from Lufthansa’s own website, and then on the final page you can look at the taxes/fees added to the ticket. Most of that will be added to your award booking.

Great deal, but no availability for dates I could fly.

Good to see some of these deals returning! It feels good to start settling back into normal and collecting passport stamps again 🙂

    Caroline Lupini says:

I can’t wait to redeem my miles for a business class flight!

    albert c. rollins says:

Great deal, if only you can find availability. Sometimes I feel like they tend to pull the rug from under you. Still, not bad deal if you can get the availability. Enjoy

    Charles Coleman says:

For years, my wife and I used to fly on Lufthansa from DFW roundtrip to Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC), or even Dublin (DUB) using United Airlines Miles. All of a sudden, availability has disappeared from United’s website (except economy is still displayed as available on Lufthansa. Any idea why one cannot use United miles to fly on Lufthansa (other than economy)? Both airlines are in the same alliance (Star Alliance). I spoke with United and was told Lufthansa did something (but they were not sure what. I contacted Lufthansa and it has not replied.
    Any information would be appreciated.

Ugh seems that Lufthansa reduced the award availability that it offers to partners. That’s something we’ve seen more and more airlines do, and it’s really frustrating since those can be the best uses of miles!

Incredible deal with FB but never shows availability!!!!!!

    Anthony Frisby says:

Such a great deal – I only wish they would include Philadelphia as a departure airport!

Im looking for clarification on this quote: So, you’ll need to earn miles through the Miles & More® World Elite Mastercard® or through flights on partner airlines.

So most of miles are through Chase UR. If I were to transfer my miles from UR to Luthsana to Miles and More, would that work to get me the flight I need?

    Thank you so much!

I wish that was possible! Unfortunately, Chase points don’t transfer to Lufthansa Miles & More. In fact, no transferrable points transfer to Miles & More! That’s the major limitation of this promotion.
