Atmos Rewards is one of the few U.S.-based airline loyalty programs still committed to a distance-based award chart. Today, the program uses the same regional award charts for all its partner airlines. All three charts include several awards you can book for under 10,000 points, including some in business class.

Here, I'll give you an overview of how the Atmos Rewards award chart works and show you the best redemptions that you can book for 10,000 points or less.

How the Atmos Rewards Award Chart Works

Atmos Rewards has three partner award charts: one for the Americas, one for Asia Pacific, and one that covers Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Each has different pricing bands, but all are distance-based with fixed award pricing. For example, the North America award chart's lowest-priced award is 4,500 points in economy and 9,000 points in business class, and it covers all flights within the region that are 700 miles or shorter, as long as award space is available.

For example, if you're departing from Chicago, all flights within a 700-mile radius cost the same price. The price is the same whether you fly to Minneapolis (MSP), Allentown (ABE), or Washington National (DCA), as all flights fall within this distance band.

You can view the full Atmos Rewards award chart for all three regions on Alaska Airlines' website.

That said, it's worth noting that Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines flights are priced differently. These flights are priced dynamically, so award prices vary by route, frequency, and departure date. This can lead to great deals (often under 10,000 points) on short-haul flights and routes with low demand. On the other hand, it can also drive up prices on in-demand flights.

The Best Atmos Rewards Partner Awards for 10K Points or Less in the Americas

Atmos Rewards' award chart for the Americas is the least expensive, with awards for flights 700 miles or shorter costing just 4,500 points in economy or 9,000 in business class (or domestic first class within the U.S.). This includes a handful of great routes on American Airlines and Porter Airlines, including short-haul international flights from select gateways — here's a look at some of our favorites:

  • Toronto Billy Bishop (YTZ) to Newark (EWR) on Porter Airlines
  • Toronto Billy Bishop (YTZ) to Boston (BOS) on Porter Airlines
  • Toronto Billy Bishop (YTZ) to Chicago O'Hare (ORD) on Porter Airlines
  • Miami (MIA) to Cancún (CUN) on American Airlines
  • Miami (MIA) to Cozumel (CZM) on American Airlines
  • Miami (MIA) to Mérida (MID) on American Airlines
  • Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Monterrey (MTY) on American Airlines

Of course, a slew of domestic U.S. routes are available at this level too, including some high-traffic domestic routes that can get expensive during peak travel times:

  • Charlotte (CLT) to Nashville (BNA) on American Airlines
  • Charlotte (CLT) to Washington National (DCA) on American Airlines
  • Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Austin (AUS) on American Airlines
  • Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to San Antonio (SAT) on American Airlines
  • Chicago O'Hare (ORD) to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) on American Airlines
  • Chicago O'Hare (ORD) to St. Louis (STL) on American Airlines
  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Las Vegas (LAS) on American Airlines
  • Miami (MIA) to Jacksonville (JAX) on American Airlines
  • Miami (MIA) to Orlando (MCO) on American Airlines
  • New York LaGuardia (LGA) to Washington National (DCA) on American Airlines
  • New York LaGuardia (LGA) to Boston (BOS) on American Airlines
  • Philadelphia (PHL) to Boston (BOS) on American Airlines

In the Americas, you can also book flights between 701 and 1,400 miles for 7,500 Atmos Rewards points in economy. Some routes include:

  • Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Miami (MIA) on American Airlines
  • Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Chicago O'Hare (ORD) on American Airlines
  • Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Phoenix (PHX) on American Airlines
  • Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Washington National (DCA) on American Airlines
  • Charlotte (CLT) to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) on American Airlines
  • Charlotte (CLT) to Boston (BOS) on American Airlines
  • Miami (MIA) to New York LaGuardia (LGA) on American Airlines
  • Miami (MIA) to Washington National (DCA) on American Airlines
  • Chicago O'Hare (ORD) to Boston (BOS) on American Airlines
  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) on American Airlines

Outside of the U.S., there are some other great awards available for 7,500 Atmos Rewards points or less, including:

  • Toronto Billy Bishop (YTZ) to Montreal (YUL) on Porter Airlines for 4,500 points
  • Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Ottawa (YOW) on Porter Airlines for 4,500 points
  • Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Halifax (YHZ) on Porter Airlines for 7,500 points
  • Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Winnipeg (YWG) on Porter Airlines for 7,500 points
  • São Paulo Congonhas (CGH) to Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont (SDU) on LATAM for 4,500 points
  • São Paulo Guarulhos (GRU) to Salvador (SSA) on LATAM for 7,500 points
  • Santiago (SCL) to Puerto Montt (PMC) on LATAM for 4,500 points
  • Santiago (SCL) to Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) on LATAM for 7,500 points
  • Lima (LIM) to Cusco (CUZ) on LATAM for 4,500 points
  • Lima (LIM) to Bogotá (BOG) on LATAM for 7,500 points
  • Bogotá (BOG) to Medellín (MDE) on LATAM for 4,500 points
  • Quito (UIO) to Guayaquil (GYE) on LATAM for 4,500 points

These are just a handful of routes in the Americas that you can book for 10,000 Atmos Rewards points or less. Before booking your next short-haul trip, check the distance between your origin and destination to see whether it falls into either of these award categories. If it does — and if there's award space available — you might save hundreds on airfare.

The Best Atmos Rewards Partner Awards for 10K or Less in Europe

Travel within Europe is often cheap, given the continent’s extensive network of low-cost carriers like Ryanair and EasyJet. But that's not always the case — especially if you're planning to bring luggage. The price of flying with low-cost carriers adds up quickly when you factor in add-ons, including carry-on bags and even airport check-in fees. Further, flights on low-cost carriers can become expensive during peak travel times, such as the summer months and winter holidays.

Atmos Rewards' award chart for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa has its lowest award band for flights that are 1,500 miles or less. These cost 7,500 Atmos Rewards points in economy and 15,000 in business class. Here are some interesting European routes to consider:

  • Madrid (MAD) to Barcelona (BCN) on Iberia
  • Madrid (MAD) to Lisbon (LIS) on Iberia
  • Dublin (DUB) to Paris (CDG) on Aer Lingus
  • Dublin (DUB) to Amsterdam (AMS) on Aer Lingus
  • Dublin (DUB) to Edinburgh (EDI) on Aer Lingus
  • Dublin (DUB) to Manchester (MAN) on Aer Lingus
  • Dublin (DUB) to Málaga (AGP) on Aer Lingus
  • Cork (ORK) to Nice (NCE) on Aer Lingus
  • Helsinki (HEL) to Stockholm (ARN) on Finnair
  • Helsinki (HEL) to Copenhagen (CPH) on Finnair
  • Reykjavik (KEF) to Copenhagen (CPH) on Icelandair
  • Reykjavik (KEF) to Paris (CDG) on Icelandair

Note that British Airways flights from London (LHR) often have higher taxes and fees than other European itineraries, so we've excluded them from the list. For example, this flight from London (LHR) to Paris (CDG) costs 7,500 points, but has $85 in taxes and fees in economy. You'll often get a better value booking these routes with a low-cost carrier and saving the points for another trip.

As always, run the numbers before you book European award tickets with Atmos Rewards points. Sometimes, it's cheaper to buy a ticket outright with a low-cost carrier.

The Best Atmos Rewards Partner Awards for 10K or Less in the Middle East and Africa

As mentioned, Atmos Rewards uses the same award chart for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Under 1,500 miles goes a long way in this region, especially from places like Muscat (MCT) and Doha (DOH), where you can book economy flights to India for just 7,500 points. Here are some routes to spark your imagination:

  • Doha (DOH) to Dubai (DXB) on Qatar Airways
  • Doha (DOH) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) on Qatar Airways
  • Doha (DOH) to Riyadh (RUH) on Qatar Airways
  • Doha (DOH) to Jeddah (JED) on Qatar Airways
  • Doha (DOH) to Kuwait City (KWI) on Qatar Airways
  • Doha (DOH) to Mumbai (BOM) on Qatar Airways
  • Doha (DOH) to Beirut (BEY) on Qatar Airways
  • Muscat (MCT) to Dubai (DXB) on Oman Air
  • Muscat (MCT) to Bahrain (BAH) on Oman Air
  • Muscat (MCT) to Riyadh (RUH) on Oman Air
  • Muscat (MCT) to Mumbai (BOM) on Oman Air
  • Muscat (MCT) to Delhi (DEL) on Oman Air
  • Amman (AMM) to Dubai (DXB) on Royal Jordanian
  • Amman (AMM) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) on Qatar Airways
  • Amman (AMM) to Baghdad (BGW) on Royal Jordanian
  • Amman (AMM) to Medina (MED) on Royal Jordanian
  • Casablanca (CMN) to Tunis (TUN) on Royal Air Maroc
  • Casablanca (CMN) to Nouakchott (NKC) on Royal Air Maroc
  • Casablanca (CMN) to Dakhla (VIL) on Royal Air Maroc
  • Casablanca (CMN) to Laayoune (EUN) on Royal Air Maroc

Further, you can use 7,500 Atmos Rewards points to book flights from some North African and Middle Eastern cities to Europe, including:

  • Doha (DOH) to Larnaca (LCA) on Qatar Airways
  • Amman (AMM) to Larnaca (LCA) on Royal Jordanian
  • Amman (AMM) to Athens (ATH) on Royal Jordanian
  • Amman (AMM) to Istanbul (IST) on Royal Jordanian
  • Casablanca (CMN) to Lisbon (LIS) on Royal Air Maroc
  • Casablanca (CMN) to Madrid (MAD) on Royal Air Maroc
  • Casablanca (CMN) to Barcelona (BCN) on Royal Air Maroc
  • Casablanca (CMN) to Rome (FCO) on Royal Air Maroc
  • Casablanca (CMN) to Paris (CDG) on Royal Air Maroc

Given the lack of low-cost carriers in Africa and the Middle East, you can use Atmos Rewards points to save big on these routes. But as always, run the numbers before you book to make sure you're getting a good deal with your points.

The Best Atmos Rewards Partner Awards for 10K or Less in Asia Pacific

Intra-Asia routes are another interesting way to use Atmos Rewards points. Like the European award chart, the Asia Pacific chart has prices for flights 1,500 miles or shorter at 7,500 points. Given the number of partners Atmos Rewards has in this region, you can use it in Japan, Southeast Asia, China, and beyond:

  • Tokyo (HND) to Osaka (ITM) on Japan Airlines
  • Tokyo (HND) to Sapporo (CTS) on Japan Airlines
  • Tokyo (HND) to Fukuoka (FUK) on Japan Airlines
  • Tokyo (HND) to Okinawa (OKA) on Japan Airlines
  • Hong Kong (HKG) to Taipei (TPE) on Cathay Pacific
  • Hong Kong (HKG) to Manila (MNL) on Cathay Pacific
  • Hong Kong (HKG) to Bangkok (BKK) on Cathay Pacific
  • Hong Kong (HKG) to Danang (DAD) on Cathay Pacific
  • Taipei (TPE) to Tokyo (NRT) on Starlux
  • Taipei (TPE) to Osaka (KIX) on Starlux
  • Taipei (TPE) to Manila (MNL) on Starlux
  • Seoul (ICN) to Osaka (KIX) on Korean Air
  • Seoul (ICN) to Tokyo (NRT) on Korean Air
  • Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Singapore (SIN) on Malaysia Airlines
  • Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Bangkok (BKK) on Malaysia Airlines

However, it also prices premium economy flights in this price band at 10,000 points, which is useful on select Starlux routes from Taipei (TPE). Some routes that fall into this price band include:

  • Taipei (TPE) to Hong Kong (HKG)
  • Taipei (TPE) to Tokyo (NRT)
  • Taipei (TPE) to Osaka (KIX)
  • Taipei (TPE) to Fukuoka (FUK)
  • Taipei (TPE) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN)
  • Taipei (TPE) to Okinawa Naha (OKA)

Like European routes, you may find a better price when booking with low-cost carriers like AirAsia or VietJet. However, these sub-10,000-point redemptions can help you save big when traveling during peak season or when you're planning to bring bags. And if you're flying Starlux, you could get a far better experience in premium economy than you would in the back of the plane on a low-cost carrier.

How To Earn Atmos Rewards Points

Atmos Rewards are some of the harder points to earn, but you still have a handful of options that don't require you to get on a plane.

Here's a look at your best options:

The easiest way to earn Atmos Rewards points on your everyday spending is to use an Alaska Airlines or Bilt credit card. If you use a Bilt card, you'll likely earn more points than with an Alaska Airlines card, and you'll have the added flexibility to transfer those points to other partners. That said, an Alaska Airlines card will help you work toward elite status.

Final Thoughts

Atmos Rewards are among the best points for short-haul flights. In North America, redemptions start at just 4,500 points for flights 700 miles or shorter — and those same redemptions cost just 9,000 points in domestic first class. Elsewhere in the world, you'll spend a bit more, but you can fly up to 1,500 miles in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East for just 7,500 points in economy, which is a great deal during peak travel seasons when airfare is expensive.

Just be aware of the fees attached to Atmos Rewards tickets. You'll pay a $20 partner booking fee for all partner award tickets, and British Airways redemptions carry higher taxes and fees than other European airlines. With that in mind, do the math before you book to ensure you're getting a good deal by using Atmos Rewards points rather than paying for a flight outright.
