Here are the details and requirements for these promotions.
Double-Dip on World of Hyatt and Aeroplan Rewards
A core aspect of the Hyatt and Air Canada partnership is the opportunity to earn and redeem points. First, members must link their accounts. After doing so, Aeroplan members can earn 500 Aeroplan points per stay at a World of Hyatt property in lieu of World of Hyatt points. Aeroplan members can also redeem their points for World of Hyatt free night awards, including Category 1-7 certificates.
Conversely, World of Hyatt members can redeem 50,000 points for a 30,000-point Aeroplan flight reward certificate, redeemable on any Air Canada flight or partner airline. Unfortunately, you can't earn World of Hyatt points on Air Canada flights.
A new promotion now lets World of Hyatt members earn Aeroplan points on hotel stays, in addition to earning World of Hyatt points on the stay. Members must register for this promotion by November 11, 2026. After registering, complete qualifying Hyatt stays by February 14, 2027. Members will earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per $1 spent on eligible stays, and will also earn World of Hyatt points based on elite status.
The promotion never mentions any eligible booking dates. So we can assume existing bookings will earn the bonus points as long as the stay is completed during the offer period.

Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge for World of Hyatt Elites
As mentioned in our Hyatt and Air Canada partnership guide, the annual fast-track challenge for Explorists and Globalist members to shortcut their way to Aeroplan elite status is now live. Once per calendar year, eligible World of Hyatt elite status members can link their account to Aeroplan and register for a status challenge to earn Air Canada Aeroplan elite status and receive the accompanying core benefits.
During the 90-day status challenge, World of Hyatt members must earn Status Qualifying Credits (SQC) to unlock Aeroplan elite status. Explorist and Globalist members who accumulate 8,000 SQC within 90 days will achieve Aeroplan 25K Status. Furthermore, Globalist members who earn more SQC during the 90 days can achieve up to Aeroplan 75K Status:
- Earn 12,000 SQC for Aeroplan 35K Status
- Earn 17,000 SQC for Aeroplan 50K Status
- Earn 25,000 SQC for Aeroplan 75K Status
Upon completing the status challenge, your Aeroplan status will be valid until January 31 of the second calendar year following the one during which you registered for the Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge. Members who complete this challenge soon after January 31 will have the longest window with their new status.
You can only use the World of Hyatt elite status you have when you register. If you are close to achieving Globalist status, hold off until you do so before registering for this challenge so you can earn a higher Aeroplan status.

Core benefits for Aeroplan 25K Status members include complimentary preferred seats with eligible fares, priority airport check-in, a complimentary checked bag, no handling fees for sports equipment, priority boarding, and five eUpgrade certificates. Aeroplan 35K Status members and above get priority security clearance, three complimentary checked bags, and 10 eUpgrade certificates. Aeroplan 50K Status members get access to Maple Leaf Lounges and 15 eUpgrade certificates, while Aeroplan 75K get 20 eUpgrade certificates.
Hyatt Globalists cannot participate in the challenge if they already hold Aeroplan 75K or higher and their status is valid through the following calendar year. Meanwhile, Hyatt Explorists can participate only if they hold Aeroplan 25K status that expires sooner than the status they would earn through the challenge. For example, if your Aeroplan 25K Status expires in January 2027, you can complete the challenge and extend your status through January 2028.
How to earn Aeroplan Status Qualifying Credits
Aeroplan members have three ways to accumulate SQC to complete this Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge. To earn SQC, complete flights during the 90-day challenge window to earn the following:
- Earn 4 SQC per $1 spent on Economy Flex or higher fares
- Earn 2 SQC per $1 spent on Economy Standard fares
- Earn 1 SQC per $1 spent on Air Canada Vacations packages
- No SQCs are earned on Economy Basic fares
Members can earn SQC on Air Canada flights and flights operated by a Star Alliance Member airline, as long as the ticket starts with 014 and is issued by Air Canada. Earn SQC on the base fare and carrier surcharges, excluding applicable taxes, fees, and third-party charges. SQC earned on non-eligible Air Canada activities does not qualify for the Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge.

Key terms
- You must register for this challenge to start the 90-day window.
- Earn SQC during the 90-day challenge to earn Aeroplan Elite Status.
- Earn 7,500 SQC for Aeroplan 25K Status (Explorist and Globalist members)

- This challenge isn't available to World of Hyatt members with status below Explorist.
- You will receive your new Aeroplan elite status within 48 hours of completing the challenge.
- The new status is valid through January 31 of the second calendar year following the one during which you registered for the challenge.

Our Take
The new status challenge for World of Hyatt Explorist and Globalist members is a great way to achieve Aeroplan Elite Status…if you fly often with Air Canada or partner airlines. The core benefits that come with Elite Status can come in handy, including free checked baggage, access to Maple Leaf Lounges, and more.
If you plan to start the status challenge, make sure you can earn the required SQC within the 90-day window. If you are close to Globalist status, wait until you earn it to qualify for higher Aeroplan statuses. Any status you achieve is valid until January 31, two years after the year you complete your challenge, so aim to complete your challenge soon after January 31. Remember, you can apply for the status challenge only once per calendar year, whether you fail or succeed.
Beyond the status challenge, register for the promotion to double-dip on Hyatt stays by November 11, 2026. After you register, you will earn 1.5 bonus Aeroplan points on eligible stays through February 14, 2027.
