We've had yet another busy week. Since last week's travel news roundup, we shared details of United's Premier qualification overhaul, Delta's revamp of Delta One suites, Rove adding JetBlue as a partner, JetBlue launching BlueFirst sales, and Southwest's biggest program overhaul in a decade. That is a lot of news for travelers to absorb in just one week.

However, even more announcements have been made this week. Here's all the travel news you might have missed from your favorite credit card issuers, hotel chains, and airlines.

Capital One Offers Eligible for Discover Cash Back Match

Capital One has acquired Discover, and Discover accounts are now migrating to Capital One. When they do, they get access to Capital One Offers. If you're unfamiliar, Capital One Offers let you earn bonus miles or cash back with select merchants. They rotate constantly, but you can sometimes find fantastic offers.

Discover has long offered an unlimited cash back match in the first year of card membership for new cardholders. It seems cash back earned through Capital One Offers qualifies for this match. Cardholders on Reddit are posting their cash back match trackers, including earnings from Capital One Offers. If this remains, it could substantially increase the value of your match by the end of your first year.

World of Hyatt Simplifies Point Sharing

As of October 15, 2026, World of Hyatt members can digitally transfer points to another member directly on Hyatt's website. Previously, you had to fill out a PDF and email it to Hyatt for processing. Hyatt has finally caught up to 2026, and the process is now digital via Points.com.

To share your points, you'll need to go to the dedicated points sharing portal and fill out the requested information. The standard terms and conditions still apply — you can transfer a minimum of 1,000 points in increments of 500 points, up to 525,000 points per year. Both the sender and receiver must have had Hyatt accounts open for at least 60 days, and you can make up to six transfers free of charge each year.

American Express No Longer Pools Points Between Cards

As first reported by Doctor of Credit, American Express has updated its Membership Rewards terms and conditions (PDF link). Now, when you open a new card, it will get its own Membership Rewards account and won't automatically be linked to your existing Membership Rewards account. If you earn Membership Rewards points through multiple card products, you'll need to link them before you can consolidate your balance into one account. This is a minor change, but still worth knowing.

Citi ThankYou Adds a New Partner

You might love earning Citi ThankYou Points® so you can access transfers to American Airlines AAdvantage®. However, if you love video games, Citi has just added a new partner that might intrigue you. Eligible Citi Mastercard cardmembers can use their points toward eligible video game and in-game digital purchases directly at Xsolla checkout.

According to Citi, Xsolla is the first of several new Shop with Points merchants rolling out soon. All you need to do is select a video game, head to checkout, enter your Citi card details, and select to redeem your ThankYou Points. If you have a balance left over, it will be charged to your Citi card.

United Adds Starlink Tracker

I never imagined I'd talk about Starlink as much as I do. It seems like every other day, an airline announces a new Starlink rollout or updates travelers on rollout progress. Today is no exception. United has launched a Starlink tracker so you can monitor progress and see whether your upcoming flight offers Starlink.

As of October 16, United has installed Starlink on 640 aircraft, representing 43% of its fleet. You can also enter your flight number and travel date to see if your flight is equipped with Starlink. It also provides additional information, like Starlink availability by hub (ORD leading the way at 54%), Starlink availability by aircraft type (CRJ and Embraer are fully equipped), and more.

Marriott Possibly Beta Testing New In-App Feature

As first reported by Loyalty Lobby, Marriott appears to be testing a new in-app feature that shows your complimentary upgrade position. This is similar to features in airline apps that show where you are on the upgrade waitlist before your flight. According to The Points Guy, the Complimentary Upgrade List is first available at a small group of properties before expanding to over 250 hotels in the U.S. and Canada by the end of November.

Unfortunately, without an official press release or an eligible reservation, we haven't been able to confirm this new feature. Apparently, Marriott announced this at Member Day earlier this week.

Bottom Line

Overall, it's been a pretty good week. Even though we've had some bad news, we've also gotten a lot of good news. Capital One Offers might be eligible for the Discover cash back match, United made it easier to know if you'll have Starlink on your next flight, and Hyatt significantly improved the points sharing process.

There's no way to know what next week has in store, but make sure you're caught up on the last few weekly travel news roundups:
