For many years, JetBlue has operated its “Mint” lie-flat premium cabin. First, it rolled out domestically on premium routes, instantly becoming one of the best ways to fly coast-to-coast. Then, when JetBlue entered the transatlantic market, it further enhanced its Mint product, including the Mint Studio with extra space.

Now, as JetBlue makes strategic moves to attract flyers and stay in business, the airline has started teasing details of a new domestic first class product that will appear on more routes, dubbed “Mini Mint.”

Here's everything we know about JetBlue's upcoming first class product.

JetBlue Domestic First Class: What We Know So Far

We’ve known a few limited details about the Mini Mint product since the summer of 2024. Reportedly, JetBlue plans to use the Collins Aerospace MiQ seat, which is already found in domestic first class cabins on many American Airlines and Delta Air Lines flights.

The seats include some nice features, including:

  • Adjustable headrests
  • Up to 10 inches of recline
  • A collapsible tray table
  • Adjustable armrests
  • Storage space for small items like a laptop or iPad

These seats are reportedly expected to be installed on every Airbus aircraft in JetBlue’s fleet that doesn’t already feature the airline’s older Mint product. To make room for the larger seats, which will reportedly offer 36 to 37 inches of pitch, standard economy legroom is expected to shrink to 30 inches.

That's a major downgrade from their current industry-best economy legroom of 32 inches.

This new product is expected to debut in the second half of 2026

With earnings season underway, JetBlue’s latest earnings call revealed a few new details for those eager to learn more about the upcoming product.

JetBlue President Marty St. George said the new domestic first class experience is expected to debut in the second half of 2026. However, the airline hasn’t yet announced when first class seats will officially go on sale.

JetBlue believes the new premium cabin will help improve its Revenue per Available Seat Mile (RASM), one of the airline industry’s most important financial metrics. Put simply, RASM measures how much revenue an airline generates per seat for every mile flown.

The airline also believes the new cabin will help it compete more effectively in key focus cities like Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where JetBlue also plans to open a future BlueHouse lounge once it secures enough space for the project.

What we don't yet know about Mini Mint

The big questions for TrueBlue members are still unanswered. For starters, we don't know how much this new offering will cost — either in cash or TrueBlue points. And, how will upgrades be handled for Mosaic members? Perhaps a credit card refresh for one of JetBlue's co-branded cards will come with Mini Mint perks.

Down the line, we may even see reciprocal upgrades with strategic partners like United. Time will tell how this new product innovation will change JetBlue's operations and prospects.

With Spirit's bankruptcy, JetBlue will also have to find ways to attract Spirit's customers to improve its strategic position.

Our Take

Mini Mint will be an exciting new addition to the JetBlue experience. With a true domestic first class product flying on every plane, at least when the rollout is complete, JetBlue can effectively compete with other mainline carriers. As the premium customer remains the most important in the sky, Mini Mint will do a better job attracting those customers and keeping them from flying another airline's first-class product.

We'll have to wait and see when the official first flight of Mini Mint is scheduled, how much it'll cost JetBlue customers, and when TrueBlue members can redeem their hard-earned points for the new experience.
