The IHG One Rewards Premier Card is one of our favorite hotel cards thanks to great benefits like complimentary elite status, a complimentary Reward Night Certificate every year, and your fourth night free on award bookings. Feature Benefits of the IHG One Rewards Premier Card
- Anniversary Reward Night Certificate — The hero benefit of the IHG One Rewards Premier Card and the reason it pays for itself over the long term. The IHG Anniversary Night is valid at any IHG property that costs up to 40,000 points. Want to book a more expensive stay? You can top off this anniversary IHG free night certificate with an unlimited number of points to redeem at hotels above the 40,000 point level.
- Fourth Night Free — Cardholders receive the fourth night free on award redemptions. Just redeem your points for a four-night stay at an IHG property, and IHG will only charge you for three nights. Depending on the points cost of the fourth night vs. the other nights, that's around a 25% discount!
- IHG Platinum Elite Status — Receive IHG Platinum Elite Status for as long as you retain the IHG One Rewards Premier Card. While not quite the best mid-tier hotel elite status, Platinum Elite members receive perks like complimentary upgrades and late checkout when available, plus you’ll earn 16X points per dollar spent at most IHG brands. If you pay the bill with your IHG One Rewards Premier Card, that’s 26X points per dollar spent with IHG.
- Earn IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite status — Cardmembers can also earn IHG Diamond Elite status after spending $40,000 on qualifying purchases each calendar year.
- Save 20% on Points Purchases — There are situations when buying IHG points can save you a bundle compared to paying cash for your stay. It's important to note that the 20% discount on points purchases can't be combined with other deals or discounts.
- 10,000 Bonus Points and $100 Statement Credit — Earn 10,000 bonus points and a $100 statement credit after spending $20,000 on the card (and then making one additional purchase) each year.
- $50 United Credit Each Year — Receive up to $50 in United TravelBank credit each year after linking your card to United.
- Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS Credit — Cardholders receive a statement credit of up to $120 every four years to cover the TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or NEXUS application fees.
Best Ways To Redeem IHG One Rewards Points
IHG reward nights range in price from under 10,000 points per night for entry-level hotels to over 100,000 points per night for premium InterContinental and Kimpton properties.
Many IHG redemptions return a consistent value around the ~0.5¢ per point mark. However, you can get even higher value by picking and choosing which redemptions you make and taking advantage of the fourth-night free cardholder perk. For reference, AwardWallet users have averaged 0.68¢ per point in recent redemptions. To help you maximize your IHG points, we've compiled a list of our top luxury IHG One Rewards redemptions and best IHG redemptions under 25k points per night.
Another unique feature of IHG One Rewards is the ability to use a mix of points and cash when booking a hotel stay. If you don’t have enough points in your account to book your desired hotel or want to extend your stay past what your points alone will allow, you can use a mix of points and cash to secure your booking.

Application Restrictions
Chase imposes multiple restrictions on rewards credit card applications. The first is a published application rule stating you can’t get the IHG One Rewards Premier Card if you currently hold an IHG card or have received a signup bonus for one in the previous 24 months:
“This product is available to you if you do not have a current IHG One Rewards Credit Card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Business Card Credit Card products.”
The second (unpublished rule) is Chase’s 5/24 policy. If you’ve been approved for five or more personal credit cards in the previous 24 months, you won’t be approved for this card.
Final Thoughts
Chase and IHG just launched an excellent new bonus on the IHG One Rewards Premier Card.
It's rare to see a hotel signup bonus that can put so many travel possibilities within easy reach. Combine that with the IHG One Rewards Premier Card‘s 4th night free on award stays, and you could be spending multiple nights in luxury at an IHG or Kimpton property off a single signup bonus.
