Eligibility is limited for the Amex Offers discussed in this post. Enrollment is required in the Amex Offers section of your account before redeeming.

SimplyMiles is a way for AAdvantage® members to earn miles on purchases made with any Mastercard. If you are working on getting American Airlines status, the base miles earned through SimplyMiles also count as American Airlines Loyalty Points. And like online shopping portals, the AAdvantage miles you earn through SimplyMiles are in addition to the points and miles earned through your credit card.

Here's how to opt into SimplyMiles and start earning bonus miles and Loyalty Points on purchases.

What Is SimplyMiles?

SimplyMiles is a card-linked opt-in offer program that rewards users with American Airlines miles for in-store and online purchases. Like similar programs — such as Amex Offers and Chase Offers — SimplyMiles partners with a variety of stores, restaurants, and service providers. Users enroll in a specific offer and then use an enrolled card to make a qualifying purchase. Mastercard notifies SimplyMiles about the purchase, and you're rewarded with AAdvantage miles. Easy!

The SimplyMiles program works with any valid Mastercard — you don't need an American Airlines credit card to qualify! That means that you can earn AAdvantage miles on a card like the Citi Double Cash® Card since it's a Mastercard.

Getting Started with SimplyMiles

To use SimplyMiles, users must be U.S. residents 18 years or older with an AAdvantage account and at least one Mastercard. That's really it as far as restrictions go.

How to enroll in SimplyMiles

If you aren't enrolled in the American Airlines AAdvantage program, you can do so quickly and easily online. If you are wondering whether earning American Airlines miles is worth your time, know that you can use AAdvantage miles to travel on 22 different airlines spanning over 1,100 destinations in 180 countries and territories.

Along with an AAdvantage account, users need a Mastercard in their name. Once you have your AAdvantage number and Mastercard, visit the SimplyMiles website to register for a free account.

If you carry a wallet full of cards, you can register a maximum of three Mastercards, so choose the ones you use most to link to the SimplyMiles program. When a specific bonus or stacking opportunity arises, you can always swap out one card for another.

Earning Miles With SimplyMiles

Once your account is set up, just sign in and check the home page to see available offers:

These offers are updated frequently, so it's worth checking the website regularly. SimplyMiles typically has over 100 offers at any given time. Scroll through the list and select “Add to Card” for any interesting offer you want to use.

When an offer is added, it will appear as “activated” in a small green square at the bottom right corner of the offer box. Once you register for an offer, make a purchase however you want. Unlike online shopping portals, you don't need to go through the SimplyMiles site to make the actual purchase.

Stack To Earn More AAdvantage Miles

AAdvantage eShopping

Lots of offers on SimplyMiles also have stackable offers on American Airlines' eShopping portal. Once you add an offer, check the eShopping portal to see if you can increase your earnings.

Right now, you can earn 2 miles per dollar spent at Bed Bath and Beyond through SimplyMiles. You also can earn 2 miles per dollar spent if you shop through the eShopping portal. That's a total of 4X miles on eligible purchases.

AAdvantage co-branded cards

Finally, if you do register one or more AAdvantage co-branded cards, then you can earn even more miles! Whether you have a AAdvantage® Aviator® Red World Elite Mastercard® or a Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard®, your SimplyMiles earnings are in addition to the miles that you earn with your AAdvantage card.

Using AAdvantage Miles

Miles earned through a SimplyMiles offer are tracked and automatically added to your AAdvantage account. You can redeem AAdvantage miles for flights, seat selection, mileage upgrades, car rentals… the list goes on! You also can donate your miles.

Miles earned through SimplyMiles also count as Loyalty Points, helping you earn AAdvantage elite status. When miles are added to your account, Loyalty Points are counted toward your status progress.

Miles earned should post within three to five business days. My experiences vary. Some transactions post quickly, while others take longer. Keep track of your purchases with this program to confirm your bonuses post.

Final Thoughts

SimplyMiles offers a range of 100+ offers that update frequently. That means it's worth checking the site every couple of weeks or before you make a purchase. The ability to register any three Mastercards is unique. SimplyMiles stands out from Amex Offers, Chase Offers, and other card offers which are usually tied to a single account and require you to shop after clicking a special link.

Overall, SimplyMiles can help boost your American Airlines miles balance and get you closer to AAdvantage elite status with American Airlines.
