Despite recent devaluations, World of Hyatt is still one of our favorite hotel loyalty programs. It still uses an award chart (albeit with many subcategories), and you can get great value when booking both high-end resorts and budget-friendly hotels with your points.

The loyalty program has some interesting features that make it easy to use your points. One is Pay My Way — an option that lets you book a single stay using a combination of points, cash, and free night certificates online. This is a massive time-saver since most hotel loyalty programs force you to make separate reservations if you want to book some nights with money and others with points.

Let's look at how the Hyatt Pay My Way and Hyatt Points + Cash options work for booking your next Hyatt stay.

How Hyatt Pay My Way Works

Using Pay My Way is straightforward, but it isn't available for all properties, room types, or rates. For example, you cannot use Pay My Way with most corporate rates. We'll discuss what to do if you can't find the option in the next section.

To use the feature, go to Hyatt's website, log in to your World of Hyatt account, and search for your desired hotel. However, you need to search for cash rates — not award nights — to use Pay My Way.

Next, click on the room type you'd like to book to see the available rates. If Pay My Way is available for your stay, a button will be listed next to eligible paid rates.

Once you select Pay My Way, you can book your stay using any combination of points, cash, or free night certificates.

What if Hyatt Pay My Way is not showing?

As mentioned, Pay My Way may not appear every time you search for a hotel. One common reason is that you're not signed in to your World of Hyatt account. If you're signed in and still not seeing it, try signing out of World of Hyatt and signing back in.

Another reason Pay My Way might not show up is that award nights aren't available on the night you'd like to book. You can troubleshoot this by searching for each night individually. If one night isn't available with points, call Hyatt and ask a phone representative to help you book your stay with a mix of points, money, and certificates.

Finally, most corporate and discounted rates aren't eligible for Pay My Way. In most cases, booking these rates in conjunction with award nights requires separate reservations. The front desk can link your bookings at check-in.

Stretch Your Points With Hyatt Points + Cash

When you book with Pay My Way, you can also choose Points + Cash for eligible nights. Hyatt prices these awards at 50% of the points required for a standard free night, plus a cash payment of 50% to 70% of the hotel's Standard Rate for that room type. That makes Points + Cash useful when you're a little short on points, or when you'd rather stretch your balance across more nights.

World of Hyatt prices award nights based on a category system from 1 to 8. Meanwhile, Hyatt's all-inclusive properties are rated from A to F with the same sub-categories. The lower the category, the fewer points per night a hotel room will cost. Since May 20, 2026, each category also has five pricing levels based on demand: Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper, and Top. For example, a standard room at a Category 4 hotel on a Moderate night costs 20,000 points, or 10,000 points plus a cash copay with Points + Cash.

These redemptions can get you cheap hotel nights when you book on Lowest or Low dates and cash rates are low. Run the numbers before you book, though. That's because the cash portion of a Points + Cash rate is usually tied to the Standard Rate, so it's worth comparing it against award and paid prices — especially if a discounted cash rate is available.

Quirks of Hyatt Pay My Way Bookings

Here are two things to consider when utilizing Hyatt's Pay My Way.

Factor in taxes and fees

Hyatt award stays don't include taxes or fees, but you pay them on the cash portion of your booking when using Points + Cash. Pay close attention to the total when choosing how to pay, and factor in the full cost of the stay.

No Guest of Honor perks

You cannot apply Guest of Honor or Suite Night Award certificates to Pay My Way bookings if you're using a free night certificate. Guest of Honor only applies to stays booked fully with points or cash, or using points + cash. If you're wanting to use a free night certificate, you can't apply Guest of Honor perks. If not, you can contact Hyatt after booking to add Guest of Honor.

You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards and Bilt Points to World of Hyatt. However, Chase recently devalued the Hyatt transfer ratio on select cards, including the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. Similarly, Bilt will devalue transfers on January 1, 2027. At that point, you'll need the Chase Sapphire Reserve® if you want to continue making transfers at a 1:1 ratio.

That said, point transfers should be immediate, which helps when you're in a hurry. You might also consider buying Hyatt points during a bonus or discount sale.

Bottom Line

Hyatt’s Pay My Way feature adds flexibility and convenience to award bookings by letting you mix points, cash, and free night certificates in a single reservation — no need to call customer service or juggle multiple bookings. And with the Points + Cash option, you can potentially stretch your points further (though it’s always smart to compare the math).

Pay My Way is a powerful tool that lets you combine points, awards, and cash to book a single World of Hyatt reservation.
