The Andaz Miami Beach hits a sweet spot that’s surprisingly hard to find in Miami. It gives you direct beach access and a genuinely relaxing atmosphere without sacrificing proximity to the city’s nightlife and energy. One moment you’re lounging poolside in total calm, and less than ten minutes later, you’re in the middle of South Beach at midnight.

After the building's renovation, the property feels refreshed in all the right ways. It's stylish and modern, but still deeply connected to the colorful history and personality that make Miami Beach iconic.

Read on for our review of the Andaz Miami Beach, from the rooms to amenities to how to book this property with World of Hyatt points.

First Impressions

During my recent stay at the Andaz Miami Beach during the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix race weekend, this Hyatt property offered a sense of calm amid the chaos. It started the moment I walked through the front doors: Gone were the traffic jam noises and hustle of a city preparing for a major sporting event the magnitude of a Formula 1 race, replaced by the sound of clinking cocktail glasses by the lobby bar.

At the Andaz Miami Beach, the mood is set from the second your eyes adjust to the dim mood lighting in the cozy, but beautifully designed lobby. It screams Miami Beach, sans the aged Miami Vice colors and tired neon cliches.

The energy in the lobby is everything I’ve come to expect from an Andaz hotel: sexy, modern, vibey, and visually appealing yet respectful to Miami’s art deco legacy.

The check-in for my stay was efficient. But I could see how check-in and check-out could be a bit crowded at times, given there are only three stations at the front desk counter.

We were immediately acknowledged as World of Hyatt Globalist members and received a description of Hyatt elite status benefits that awaited us while we sipped on welcome drinks.

Andaz Miami Beach Rooms

Once in the room — a Skyline View Suite — we were very pleased with what we found. The room was aesthetically an extension of the design in the common areas, keeping the experience cohesive.

Proper suites, by definition, have a living space separate from the sleeping quarters, and this was exactly that, with a larger sitting area and a comfy but by no means small bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.

Crucial to me is a workspace, namely a desk, which is generally absent in trendy, new hotels. But in this case, we had a four-person dining room table that did the trick just fine.

The color palette and material choices were flawless, as was the layout. Every sitting area was within proximity of an electrical outlet, including both nightstands, which had plenty of outlets of multiple formats.

Given the location, there were two considerations that generated some heartburn before our arrival: the soundproofing and blackout curtains situation. Both passed my test with flying colors. No noise from Collins Avenue filtered in, other than the sporadic siren from the police escorts for VIP passengers headed to the race track. And while not fully pitch black, the curtains blocked out enough light to keep us from waking up at dawn.

The only thing missing from the room was a true luggage rack. The two ottomans in the room that could have served double-duty as luggage racks had a rather whimsical back to them that caused our carry-on suitcases to slide off.

Food and Drinks at the Andaz Miami Beach

As I've come to expect at Andaz hotels, the food and beverage scene at the Andaz Miami Beach was next level, with three restaurants operated by the José Andrés Group.

Aguasal, where breakfast is served, is a Miami take on Mediterranean fare. This is where I enjoyed most of my meals during my stay. Free daily breakfast is one of the best Hyatt Globalist perks, and the offerings at the Andaz Miami are generous, delicious, and very accommodating of dietary restrictions.

Bar Centro transitions from pastries and coffee in the morning to a trendy cocktail bar in the evening. It's the kind of hotel bar experience I wish we could have back home in Seattle.

The third restaurant is Bazaar Meat by José Andrés. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try it, as it was just about to soft-open a few days after my stay. However, I did sneak a peek at the menu, and it looks like I could get some serious meat sweats.

Andaz Miami Beach Amenities

There are two pools at the Andaz Miami Beach, both surrounded by plenty of seating and just a few steps away from the outdoor bar. You can get poolside service while enjoying the sun (or the shade, courtesy of a colorful umbrella) from the comfort of your chair.

The same service is offered on the beach. Andaz has a section of Miami Beach exclusively for their guests, and a chair-umbrella combo is included in your resort fee.

The more the luxury hotel space continues to expand, the more we are seeing luxury expand beyond the confines of your room. Wellness and fitness are the next frontier, and at the Andaz Miami Beach, they take this seriously.

The fitness center is packed with great equipment, including bikes through an ongoing partnership with Peloton, rowing machines, free weights, and your usual cardio equipment. But that’s just the beginning. As part of your stay, you can join multiple unique experiences like morning yoga or other group classes — many of which are complimentary.

The on-property spa rounds out the premium experience with your usual relaxation, beauty, and wellness offerings. I sadly did not get the time to try any treatments but will do so on my next visit soon.

How to Book the Andaz Miami Beach Hyatt Points

As a Hyatt hotel, the Andaz Miami Beach is available to book with World of Hyatt points.

The Andaz Miami Beach is a Category 6 hotel on the World of Hyatt award chart. That means wward redemptions for a standard room at this hotel range from 20,000 to 40,000 points per night, depending on the dates. In my opinion, that seems like a fair category for the value you get for your points.

Since it's a Category 6 hotel, your Hyatt Category 1-4 Free Night Awards won't be useful, but it's a great hotel to leverage one of your Category 1-7 Free Night Awards at.

You can earn the Hyatt points to book this stay with a World of Hyatt co-branded credit card like the The World of Hyatt Credit Card. Hyatt is a Chase transfer partner, meaning you can also earn Ultimate Rewards points on cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and transfer them to Hyatt to book an award stay.
