Thinking about switching your airline loyalty? Great news: This is an ideal time to apply for an Alaska Airlines status match. With its once-in-a-lifetime status match offer, you can enjoy elite perks for 90 days — and potentially keep them through the end of 2026.

But this isn’t just a form to fill out and forget. Extending your elite status requires flying a certain number of base miles on Alaska-operated flights. So, is it worth it? Let’s break down the requirements, timing strategies, and benefits of matching to Alaska Mileage Plan status.

Status Match to Alaska Airlines, Get Elite Perks Through 2026

Here's how Alaska Airlines status match works. Fill out the form to match to one of three Mileage Plan elite tiers. You'll initially get complimentary Alaska status for just 90 days. However, you can extend the life of your status past the trial period, but this requires flying a specific number of base miles on Alaska-operated flights.

Here are the flying requirements for each tier:

  • MVP: Fly 5,000 base miles on Alaska Airlines.
  • MVP Gold: Fly 10,000 base miles on Alaska Airlines.
  • MVP Gold 75K: Fly 20,000 base miles on Alaska Airlines.

When to status match to Alaska Mileage Plan

The length of time you can extend your status depends on when in the year you start your Alaska status match. And right now is one of the best times to match.

If you apply between July and December of this year and earn enough base miles, your status will be valid until the end of the next calendar year. That means if you apply after July 1, 2025, you can unlock Alaska Mileage Plan status through December 31, 2026.

If you apply between January and June of next year, your status (if you extend it) will also be valid through the end of 2026. In other words, applying now gives you the longest period to enjoy your extended status compared to waiting.
