If you live in San Diego — or you travel there frequently — you have a new promotion at your fingertips. As a way to say thank you for being voted San Diego's favorite airline, Alaska Airlines is giving travelers the opportunity to earn double points and a fast track to Atmos Rewards (formerly Mileage Plan) elite status.

Here's everything you need to know about the new Atmos Rewards promotion.

Earn Double Alaska Atmos Rewards Points

You will earn double points on nonstop flights between San Diego and select cities when flying on Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines between October 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.

You must register for the promotion by March 20, 2026. Registration is required before the first qualifying flight. Codeshare flights, flights operated by Oneworld partners, award tickets, and saver (X) fares do not count towards this promotion.

Fast Track to Alaska Atmos Rewards Status

If you fly five segments on Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines flights to or from San Diego between October 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, you will earn Atmos Silver elite status. This is the first tier of elite status, and it includes first-class upgrades within North America, premium-class upgrades on global flights, and Group B boarding when flying on Alaska Airlines. It also translates to Oneworld Ruby status.

If you fly 10 segments on eligible Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines flights between October 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, you'll earn Atmos Gold status (formerly MVP Gold). This is the second tier of Atmos elite status, and it comes with all of the benefits of Silver, plus free same-day changes and standby in main cabin, free chocolate or drink, group A boarding, and priority baggage handling on Alaska Airlines flights. It also translates to Oneworld Sapphire status, which unlocks business class lounge access.

You will also need to register for this promotion by March 20, 2026. Note that registration is required before the first qualifying flight. Just like with the first double points promotion, codeshare flights, flights operated by Oneworld partners, award tickets, and saver (X) fares do not count as eligible flights.

Final Thoughts

All you need to register for either promotion is your first and last name, email address, and Atmos Rewards number. Even if you aren't sure if you'll meet the requirements, it's worth registering. If you live in San Diego, you have an incredibly easy way to earn Oneworld Sapphire status — just take five round-trip flights by the end of March 2026. If you needed motivation to travel more, now you have it.
