It's easy to appreciate Avianca LifeMiles' versatility. After all, you can book just about any flight with them, including short hops to Bogotá, domestic United flights for next to nothing, and even transatlantic luxury courtesy of Lufthansa first class. Even better, it's long been a breeze to earn LifeMiles. And soon, it'll get a bit easier as Avianca re-introduces two credit cards to the U.S. market through the fintech platform Cardless.

Here's what we know about the new Avianca credit cards.

Avianca Bringing Back Credit Cards for U.S.-Based Applicants

If you've been in the points and miles world long enough, you might remember Avianca's Banco Popular of Puerto Rico credit cards. These LifeMiles-earning wallet additions went away on March 31, 2022, so it's been some time since U.S.-based applicants could earn LifeMiles directly via credit cards without leveraging a transferable rewards program.

As a new waiting list suggests, Avianca is bringing credit cards back to the U.S. market through two Cardless products. Much like how Cardless has handled announcing Qatar Airways' credit cards, details are slim.

All that's public knowledge is that two cards will be issued through First Electronic Bank using American Express' payment networks. Per the waitlist webpage, there will also be a bonus of up to 10,000 LifeMiles for those who join the waitlist and meet the minimum spending requirements.

There is no information on when the cards will start accepting new applicants, what the earnings categories are, how steep the annual fees are, or what other bells and whistles they'll come with. However, a spokesperson for Cardless did indicate that there will be a “standard card” and an “Elite card,” and the 10k LifeMiles bonus only applies to the Elite card's waiting list. The waitlist bonus on the standard card is just 5k LifeMiles.

That said, there's no harm in signing up for the waiting list if you're at least remotely interested in learning more about Avianca's two credit cards. That way, if the cards launch and there are many positives, you can receive bonus LifeMiles from this and from the card's welcome bonus.

Final Thoughts

Sometime soon, Avianca will again offer credit cards to U.S. applicants. As to what exactly its two Cardless products will look like, we don't know. But the waitlist is now open, and registering your interest means a bonus is in store should you apply and meet the spending requirements after the cards launch.
