The Bilt Rewards program's neighborhood of partners grew today with the addition of Walgreens, one of the leading retail pharmacies and healthcare providers in the United States. This new partnership will ultimately mean you'll earn additional Bilt Points on your Walgreens purchases, but it'll also help you put your FSA and HSA funds to good use — automatically.

Here's an overview of Bilt's brand-new partnership with Walgreens and what it means for you.

Bilt and Walgreens Launch Automatic Healthcare Savings Program

If you're unfamiliar with Bilt Neighborhood Rewards, we'll start there. This program offers additional benefits or increased earning multipliers when you use a linked card at an eligible merchant. Some notable examples where you can earn bonus points or get extra perks include Lyft, SoulCycle, and the whole slate of Bilt Dining restaurants. Walgreens is just the latest inclusion.

All to say, you can earn Bilt points on more than just rent.

This morning, Bilt shared a press release detailing the ins and outs of its new tie-up with Walgreens. While it has a couple of elements, the focal point is an “Automatic Healthcare Savings” program.

Through this program, you can shop at Walgreens after linking any debit or credit card to your Bilt account and quickly identify (Flexible Spending Account) FSA or Health Savings Account (HSA) eligible items. Better yet, you can apply your benefits with one click — all in the Bilt app. The credit for your purchases will come directly from your FSA or HSA card.

Simply put, an easy-to-use program like this should help prevent your FSA or HSA funds from going unspent.

Bilt Enhances Rewards on Walgreens Purchases

Another angle to the Bilt-Walgreens partnership is better rewards. You can earn a little extra on select purchases if you're a Bilt Rewards member. Mainly, that's 2X Bilt Points per dollar spent on Walgreens-branded items and 100 points on prescription refills (subject to certain exclusions). On all other purchases, you'll earn the standard 1X.

You might wonder if you have to use The Bilt Mastercard® to bank these bonus rewards. The answer is “no.”

As long as you're a Bilt Rewards member with a card linked to your account, you can take your pick of payment methods and stack your earnings. So, if you want to maximize your Walgreens spending, it might be worth linking and paying with your Chase Freedom Unlimited®(Rates & Fees)., which earns 3% cash back on drugstore purchases.

Final Thoughts

If you're a Bilt Rewards member and Walgreens shopper, today's your lucky day. A new tie-up between the two will better reward your spending at the latter's brick-and-mortar stores and make using your FSA and HSA funds easier.

And, in the future, Bilt Rewards members can enjoy free photo prints when you stop by at your neighborhood pharmacy. It's a minor benefit but a benefit nonetheless.
