The Discover it® Business Card is a straightforward cash back card for business owners that offers exceptional rewards for the first year, a great intro APR on purchases, and charges no annual fee.

Rather than a traditional cash back signup bonus, the Discover it Business Card matches all cash back earned in the first 12 months. The card typically earns a flat 1.5% cash back on all purchases, so for the first year, you’ll receive an unlimited 3% cash back on every purchase.

In addition to the higher-earning rate for the first year, the Discover it Business Card also scores a 0% intro APR for 12 months on purchases, followed by a variable rate of 14.74% to 22.74%, making it a great card to use for significant purchases in the first 12 months. You’ll get 3% cash back, plus you can take advantage of the 0% intro APR.

How the Discover it Business Card Compares to Other Business Cards

For the first 12 months, the Discover it Business Card provides one of the best cash back returns available for business owners, particularly for large purchases or business expenses that don’t fall under bonus categories covered by other cards.

The return on the card is reduced to 1.5% after the first year when the Cashback Match period comes to an end. While 1.5% is still considered a good return for a no annual fee card, there are plenty of no annual fee business cards providing 2% or better return on expenses. And if you are happy to wear a yearly fee, you could potentially get a much higher return on spend with a premium business rewards card.

Discover, unlike most card issuers, does report business credit cards to your personal credit report — something you’ll need to keep in mind when evaluating application rules for credit card issuers.

Our Take

A no-annual-fee card that offers an effective 3% cash back for the first 12 months (with no limit) is huge. However, it all comes down to your goals and where your business makes purchases. There are plenty of small business cards earning more points or miles on bonus categories that may be better positioned to help you achieve your goals. But for those who want to keep things simple, it doesn’t get more straightforward than cash.
