OneKeyCash is the currency of the new combined rewards program of Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo — all members of the massive Expedia group. Other Expedia group members — including Orbitz, Hotwire, and Travelocity — don't participate in the One Key program at this time.

You can earn and redeem OneKeyCash on your Expedia, Vrbo, and Hotels.com bookings. Like most programs, OneKeyCash is subject to an expiration policy. Here is all you need to know about keeping your OneKeyCash active.

Does OneKeyCash Expire?

Your OneKeyCash expires if you have not made a booking or completed a redemption for 18 months. Per the Hotels.com and Vrbo terms and conditions pages:

“Base and Preferred Inventory OneKeyCash will not expire as long as you have made an Eligible Booking or redeemed a Redemption Reward through a Participating Brand on your Account at least once in the preceding eighteen (18) months. If there has been no such activity, all accumulated Base and Promotional OneKeyCash and Trip Elements in your Account will expire and will not be reinstated.”

Note that promotional OneKeyCash may have a different expiration deadline. These deadlines will be specified in the promotion in which the OneKeyCash is earned.

Once expired, your OneKeyCash cannot be reinstated.

Activity to Extend Your OneKeyCash Validity

You can reset your OneKeyCash validity by making one of the following booking types with a brand member (Vrbo, Expedia, and Hotels.com):

  • Hotel stays
  • Vacation packages
  • Cruises
  • Flights and/or car rental
  • Eligible activity or package
  • Accommodation rental

Additionally, you'll reset your OneKeyCash so it won't expire if you make a redemption for one of the following:

  • Flight redemptions
  • Hotel redemption at participating brands
  • Short-term rental redemptions
  • Car rental, including insurance redemptions
  • Eligible activities and insurance

Our Take

While 18 months of validity is not the most generous term, it is still better than nothing. And it's more than enough time to take some action to keep you balanced alive.  However, the only major issue with OneKeyCash is that you can have varied validity depending on whether you earned your OneKeyCash via a promotion or a standard booking.

In this case, your best option is to track your One Key Rewards with AwardWallet to stay on top of your various OneKeyCash validity deadlines. The app will let you know in a timely manner when you have cash about to expire.

AwardWallet Tip of The Day
Are you overwhelmed by too many accounts appearing on your AwardWallet dashboard? You can now declutter by moving the accounts you no longer need into the "Archived Accounts" tab. Once an account is archived, it won't appear in your main "Active Accounts" list. Please note that this feature is not yet available on our mobile interface.
