World of Hyatt's partnership with Mr & Mrs Smith has been alive for the better part of two months. Some elements are great, like the unique portfolio of properties you can book — and redeem points for. Other elements leave much to be desired, such as the dynamic pricing model Hyatt uses to price award stays. Moreover, using a World of Hyatt credit card to pay for your stay wasn't even that lucrative — until now.

Here's what you need to know about the adjustments to your World of Hyatt card's earnings on Mr & Mrs Smith stays.

Earn up to 9X Points at Mr & Mrs Smith Properties

For all intents and purposes, Mr & Mrs Smith properties belong to World of Hyatt. After all, you can book stays at hundreds of properties through Hyatt's website. You'll also enjoy elite benefits, inch closer to another Brand Explorer award, and more.

But if you tried to book a Mr & Mrs Smith stay on Hyatt's website, you might have been surprised to find Hyatt didn't treat it like a conventional Hyatt property. Specifically, Hyatt's FAQs said the following:

When using my World of Hyatt Credit Card, do I earn World of Hyatt Bonus Points at Participating Mr & Mrs Smith Properties like I would at Hyatt hotels and resorts?

No. Currently, Participating Mr & Mrs Smith Properties are not considered a “Hyatt hotel or resort” for purposes of earning bonus points on World of Hyatt credit card spend.”

In other words, you'd earn just five base points per dollar spent when paying with The World of Hyatt Credit Card or the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. You wouldn't earn nine, like you would if you booked a stay at a Hyatt Place with your card, for example.

Thankfully, Hyatt made a move to re-categorize Mr & Mrs Smith properties as Hyatt hotels and resorts. Starting today, you'll now earn up to 9X points per dollar spent — 5X base points from being a Hyatt member plus 4X bonus points for making a qualifying purchase at Hyatt hotels and resorts.

This adjustment nearly doubles the points you'll earn on a Mr & Mrs Smith stay.

Final Thoughts

If you book a stay at a Mr & Mrs Smith property today using the World of Hyatt Card or the Hyatt Business Card, you'll earn up to 9X points per dollar spent. It's an overdue adjustment but one we're happy to see nonetheless.
