Hyatt’s recently rolled out partnership with Mr & Mrs Smith spelled the end of its partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH). However, of particular interest to World of Hyatt members is the short list of hotels that belong to both collections: Mr & Mrs Smith and SLH. And if you’ve booked a stay at one of these properties past May 15, 2024 — the effective end date of the Hyatt–SLH partnership — we now have some details on how Hyatt is approaching stays for dual-collection properties.

There’s good news here, which should be a relief to those wondering whether their post-breakup stays would come back into World of Hyatt in time to get some benefits at check-in.

Hyatt Notifying Guests Whose SLH Stays Will Rejoin Program Through Mr & Mrs Smith

Since March, we’ve known that SLH stays booked through World of Hyatt and taking place after May 15, 2024 wouldn’t earn points or accrue elite night credits. On top of that, Hyatt status holders couldn’t enjoy benefits like complimentary breakfast or room upgrades.

While reservations will still be honored, they won’t come with any goodies that you might have expected at the time of booking. Bummer.

There is an exception to this rule. It comes courtesy of the 80 or so properties belonging to both SLH and Mr & Mrs Smith.

Unfortunately, we need to clarify that there are some things we don’t know yet. A spokesperson for Hyatt has said that roughly 60 of the dual-participating properties will rejoin World of Hyatt on May 16, 2024. However, we don’t know which properties are on that list and which are on the ~20-property list that might rejoin World of Hyatt later — or might not rejoin at all.

However, we do have an early indication per emails Hyatt is in the process of sending out to those with affected bookings. That’s thanks to an email sent to Senior Editor Ryan Smith about a stay in August.

If you’ve reserved a stay at a property that will rejoin World of Hyatt, you’ll get communication from Hyatt like this:

“This hotel [Matachica Resort & Spa], that participates in SLH, will join World of Hyatt through Mr & Mrs Smith – a collection of boutique and luxury hotels – starting May 16, 2024. This means you will be able to earn World of Hyatt points and nights will be credited to your account for this stay; no action is required.”

So, if you’ve booked a Small Luxury Hotels of the World stay for later in the year, check your inbox. Hyatt is letting members know what benefits to expect on their stay. Additionally, the emails provide details on how to cancel or modify your reservation, which may be helpful if you can’t see your reservation via Hyatt’s website.

Final Thoughts

World of Hyatt’s partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World is on its last breath. If your SLH reservation is after the partnership end date, check your inbox. Hyatt will let you know whether your property will rejoin World of Hyatt through Mr & Mrs Smith. And if your property is due to rejoin, good news! You’ll enjoy perks and benefits and will earn Hyatt points on your stay. That’s great news for those whose stays are at properties participating in both collections.
