We've known for a while now that Hyatt and Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) are ending their partnership, which comes on the heels of Hyatt's purchase of Mr and Mrs Smith Hotels. However, thus far we haven't know the exact date everything will end. Now, we've just learned that there's an official date — and it's much nearer than you'd hope. Let's take a look at the details.
Hyatt and SLH Partnership Ending
May 15, 2024 is when the official partnership between Hyatt and SLH will end. While bookings with check-in dates after May 15th will still be honored, that's pretty much all you can expect:
- Stays will no longer accrue elite night credits.
- Base points will no longer be earned.
- Benefits, such as room upgrades and free breakfast, will no longer be offered.
It's pretty dismal that existing bookings won't be grandfathered into the benefits they were promised at booking, especially when we're given just two months' notice for when the partnership will end.
There are even more restrictions when it comes to making, changing, or canceling a reservation:
- You can make new reservations until May 15, 2024 with a checkout date before May 15, 2024.
- Changes and cancellations:
- On or before May 15, 2024: Contact a Hyatt Global Care Center at 888-848-9496.
- After May 15, 2024: Contact Small Luxury Hotels of the World directly for cancellations and modifications to paid and award reservations at 212-953-0118 or HyattReservations@slh.com.
That being said, those with a World of Hyatt credit card will still earn 4x bonus points per $1 spent on SLH stays until August 31, 2024. Beyond that, they'll revert to the standard 1x per $1 spent on non-bonus spending.
Note that Hilton and SLH announced their own upcoming partnership, though the official launch date has not yet been released.
Check Your Hyatt Reservations
It appears that those with SLH reservations already booked (whether with points or cash) are no longer able to see their reservations via Hyatt's site. This also includes the app. If you have an upcoming reservation at an SLH property, do yourself a favor and log into your account to see if the details are still showing up. If not, you may want to consider reaching out to Hyatt to confirm that your booking still exists.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith Hotels Joining Hyatt
On the heels of this news comes further confirmation that Mr and Mrs Smith Hotels will soon be integrated into the World of Hyatt program. This is great, since those stays will count for elite night credit — and there are quite a few Mr and Mrs Smith properties that also participate in SLH, so you'll see some crossover. We can only hope that the integration comes quickly, especially since SLH properties will no longer earn elite night credits.

The Bottom Line
Hyatt and SLH have announced the official end date for their partnership. Starting May 15, 2024, Hyatt guests at SLH will no longer receive benefits such as elite night credits and complimentary breakfast. While it's still possible to make, change, or cancel reservations, to do so you'll need to contact either Hyatt or SLH — it can no longer be done online.
