IHG just launched its latest promotion offering cardholders a 15% discount on Reward Night awards. However, you need to be quick to take advantage of this offer. Bookings must be completed by September 16, 2023. The promotion is valid for stays through October 26, 2023. To start, this discount is only available for IHG cardholders — with Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite members also getting access to this discount beginning September 14.
This promotion delivers on new perks advertised in the IHG One Rewards relaunch — and is the fourth such discount we've seen in the last 12 months! However, this 15% discount is slightly lower than the 20% discount offered in January 2023 but similar to the 15% offered in March/April 2023.
IHG Reward Night Discount Key Terms
- Receive a 15% Reward Night Discount when booking IHG award nights (of three or fewer nights for cardholders).
- Bookings must be completed by September 16, 2023.
- The promotion is valid for stays through October 26, 2023.
- The offer is only available for IHG credit cardholders starting September 12. IHG Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite members will also be able to participate in this offer beginning September 14.
- For points bookings with the promotion, receive a 15% discount on the number of points required for an award night.
- Per the terms, when paying with Points & Cash, the 15% discount only applies to the cash portion of the booking. However, in practice, the points rate seems discounted instead.
- This promotion does not stack with the “Fourth Reward Night Free” available to IHG cobrand cardholders.
Is this a Good Deal?
If the promotion fists with your travel plans, there is some excellent value to be had. A stay at the Intercontinental Times Square in New York will set you back 37,400 points instead of 44,000 points.
Heading over the pond to London, stay at the Kimpton Fitzroy London for 40,800 points per night. That is a saving from the standard cost of 48,000 points per night.
Heading further afield, there is also some great value to be had in the Maldives. A three-night stay at the Holiday Inn Resort Kaandoma Maldives can set you back just 29,466 points per night, down from the 34,666 points per night rate you'd otherwise need to pay.
Staying with a tropical destination theme, the Intercontinental Tahiti will set you back 58,650 points per night with the promotion — a substantial saving from the standard price of 69,000 points per night.
IHG Reward Night Discount Promotion History
IHG has offered a reward night discount for cardholders and elite members several times over the past year. Below is the promotion's history:
- October 2022: 15% discount.
- January 2023: 20% discount.
- March-April 2023: 15% discount.
- September 2023: 15% discount.
Our Take
If you are looking to book an IHG One Rewards stay under four nights and are eligible, this promotion is a no-brainer. A 15% discount over a one-to-three-night stay can save you a ton of points. Just remember that, if you are an IHG co-brand cardholder, you can get an even better percentage discount using your Fourth Reward Night Free perk for stays of four nights or more.

For stays of over 4 nights (not a multiple of 4), it’s better to break them up and get both the 4th night free and this discount on the odd nights.
I just booked a night using the anniversary flex night and it took the 15% off of the base points.
How will this work or will it work if I’m using a credit card free night in addition to points to book a night?
I don’t think it will stack up with the discount on redeeming points; nevertheless, using the benefit of the fourth-night free (while paying full via points) is still a better deal (which means a discount of 25%) than a discount of 15%.
