LATAM Pass just extended its status match campaign and is now offering elite status through March 31, 2025. As LATAM Airlines is not part of any alliance (LATAM left Oneworld in May 2020), status matching to LATAM Pass is really only going to be a good idea if you're flying in South America or plan to fly LATAM's partners (such as Delta, Japan Airlines, Qantas, and Qatar Airways) before the expiration date.

How To Status Match to LATAM Pass

LATAM Pass Status Match

You can status match to LATAM Pass if you're an elite member of one of 30 different airline programs. But, this match isn't free. LATAM is charging a $199 application fee for this status match. If you're interested in status matching to LATAM Pass, click on this link.

The match now grants LATAM pass elite status until March 31, 2025. That's much better than the previous offer of less than six months of LATAM Pass elite status.

Which LATAM Pass elite status tier you'll get from this status match depends on which airline status you currently have. The good news is that almost every airline's elite status will get you Gold Plus. The only elite status which matches to LATAM Pass Gold (the lowest tier) is Avianca LifeMiles Red Plus.

Unfortunately, you can't status match to LATAM Pass top-tier Black Signature.

Our Take

Taking advantage of this status match will be an individual decision for each member. As it's not free, you'll have to determine if the benefits outweigh the fee. Obviously, this will most benefit members who are taking flights to South America — or flying LATAM's collection of partner airlines — before March 31, 2025.

The $199 is a reasonable cost for perks like free seat selection, priority baggage, and priority boarding if you plan on taking multiple trips. However, if you try to match just to enjoy the benefits for one trip or two, the cost might not be worth it.

But if you can maximize your new status, here's the link to apply for your LATAM Pass status match.
