Earn 5 Free Night Awards With the Marriott Boundless Card

If you’re thinking about adding the Marriott Boundless to your wallet, now’s a great time to apply. New applicants can earn 5 Free Night Awards (worth up to 50,000 points each) after spending $5,000 on eligible purchases within the first 3 months.

This is an incredible welcome bonus, especially if you can maximize each Free Night Award. To put it in perspective, redeeming all five nights for the maximum 50k points each nets a bonus worth 250,000 points! Based on what AwardWallet users typically redeem Marriott points for, this should provide around $2,350 in value.

You may also be able to top off each Free Night Award with up to 15,000 Marriott points from your account. That flexibility can help you book more expensive properties that the 50k-point Free Night Award wouldn't otherwise cover. But keep in mind that these certificates expire 12 months after they are issued, so you'll need to make a plan to use them sooner rather than later.

It's also worth noting that some Marriott properties charge resort fees. And you will still need to pay them even when using points or Free Night Awards, regardless of your elite status.

Marriott Boundless Application Restrictions

The application rules for the Marriott Boundless are a maze of restrictions that can confuse even seasoned points and miles fans. That includes Marriott’s own rules, which stack on top of Chase’s already strict 5/24 policy.

First, the Marriott Boundless is subject to 5/24. So, if you have opened five or more new personal credit card accounts in the previous 24 months, you won’t be approved for this card. You can get familiar with Chase’s application policy in our comprehensive 5/24 guide.

Beyond Chase’s own rules, Marriott co-branded cards come with a complex set of restrictions. On this specific card, you'll find the following language in the offer details:

“The new cardmember bonus is not available to you if (1) you currently have or had any of the following cards within the last 30 days: Marriott Bonvoy® American Express® Card, The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express; or if (2) you applied and were approved for any of the following cards within the last 90 days or (3) received a new cardmember bonus or upgrade bonus for any of the following cards within the last 24 months: Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card, Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express, Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card, Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card, Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card.”

Our Take

Over the past few years, we’ve seen welcome offers on the Marriott Boundless oscillate between a sum of Marriott Bonvoy points and a set of Free Night Awards. If you’re in the mood to earn five of the latter, now’s the time to apply.

If you’re on the fence about taking advantage of the current offer or holding out for a points offer to return, it’s worth thinking through the value you can get with each type of bonus. With Free Night Awards, you’re limited to five nights, each worth up to 50,000 points (unless you use additional points to top them off). A points offer might translate into more free nights, but that all depends on how and where you redeem.

That said, we’ve never seen a points offer on this card go higher than 125,000 Bonvoy points. So, in terms of potential value, this Free Night Award offer is tough to beat.
