If you are a homeowner with monthly mortgage payments, you may want to consider obtaining the Mesa Homeowners Card. With this card, you can earn points on all monthly mortgage payments, even those not made with the card. But there's a small catch. Here's what you need to know about the Mesa Homeowners Card.
What is the Mesa Homeowners Card?
Buying a home is a significant undertaking, both at the outset and then with monthly mortgage payments, home improvements, and keeping abreast with the cost of living. Until now, credit cards have helped defer payments to a later date (albeit rarely on mortgage payments), but they have not directly rewarded homeowners.
Bilt has teased that The Bilt Mastercard® may allow cardholders to earn points on mortgage payments in the future. But, for now, there's just one option for homeowners to earn points on mortgage payments — without going through a bill paying service like Plastiq.

In 2024, Mesa launched the Mesa Homeowners card, a credit card targeted specifically for homeowners to help with bills related to owning a house. The Mesa Homeowners Card has no annual fee, but comes with a long list of benefits. The spending categories offered with this card are excellent, with most benefiting homeowner purchases directly.
- 3X Mesa Points on home and family expenses — home improvement, decor, maintenance, utilities, and daycare.
- 2X Mesa Points on everyday purchases — groceries, gas, EV charging, and more.
- 1X Mesa Points on all other eligible purchases.
- 1X Mesa Points on all monthly mortgage payments.
The card also comes with up to $700 in monthly statement credits for home-related purchases. You must register for each benefit individually to claim your statement credit.
- $65 annual Costco membership credit
- $200 annual Thumbtack credit
- $120 annual Wag! credit
- $120 annual The Farmer's Dog credit
- $120 annual Lowe's credit (up to $30 per quarter)
- $100 Armadillo Home Warranty credit

Not all of these credits benefit everyone. But keep in mind that these statement credits come with a card that has no annual fee.
Mesa Points
Mesa Points are the rewards earned with the Mesa Homeowners Card. You can redeem Mesa Points for gift cards, experiences (including flights and hotels), or statement credits. Mesa Points have a relatively low redemption rate compared to other credit card loyalty programs. However, new transfer partners are added regularly, and it's relatively easy to earn points.

Dozens of gift cards are available, including Delta, Airbnb, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, eBay, Southwest Airlines, Amazon.com, and many more. When redeeming Mesa Points for gift cards, each point is worth 0.8 cents. For example, a $100 gift card requires 12,500 Mesa Points.
When redeeming Mesa points for a statement credit, 10,000 points convert to $60, giving each Mesa Point a fixed value of 0.6 cents. You can also buy points at the same ratio – 10,000 points for $60. However, if you convert your points into cash for your mortgage, each point becomes 0.8 cents. For example, transfer 10,000 points for $80 toward your mortgage.

Earning Points on Mortgage Payments with the Mesa Homeowners Card
What makes the Mesa Homeowners card so unique, and one of the most valuable cards for homeowners, is the ability to earn 1X Mesa Points on mortgage payments. However, you do not need to make payments with the Mesa card to collect rewards. Mesa understands that many mortgage lenders do not accept credit card payments; however, they want to provide rewards regardless.

In order to collect rewards on mortgage payments, disclose how much your monthly payment is when you apply for the card. Thereafter, you must make at least $1,000 in purchases with the Mesa Homeowners Card each month to collect mortgage payment rewards.
Earlier this year, Bilt announced plans to offer members rewards on mortgage payments made with The Bilt Mastercard®. When that happens, Mesa Homeowners Cardholders should be able to double-dip, making mortgage payments with the Bilt card and claiming rewards with both cards.
It's hard to believe that a card gives points on purchases not made with the card. Mesa just really wants to reward homeowners. When we reached out to Mesa, the response was, “As with all consumer credit programs, various types of spend earns interchange which allows for the funding of rewards programs and points earning in many scenarios.” In other words, they make it straight towards rewarding the consumer.
1X points on Mesa Mortgages
Mesa also offers mortgage loans in eight states. If you are approved for a Mesa mortgage loan or refinance an existing loan, you will receive 1X Mesa Points on the total principal of the loan.
Applying for the Mesa Homeowners Card
You can apply for the Mesa Homeowners Card through the Mesa app, which is available on the App Store and Google Play. If the app prompts you to join the waitlist, exit the app and select “Force Stop” in the app settings. When you re-open the app, you should get the option to apply.
Sign-up bonus for the Mesa Homeowners Card
Currently, the Mesa Homeowners Card does not offer a welcome bonus. The previous offer to earn 50,000 points ended quite abruptly. Instead, you can use a referral code (such as hkma2g) to earn 5,000 bonus Mesa points after making your first purchase with the Mesa Homeowners Card. The referrer also receives 5,000 bonus points.
Members can earn up to 100,000 points from referring others to the Mesa Homeowners Card each year.
Our Take
The Mesa Homeowners Card is a relatively new addition to your wallet, but it's already one of the most important cards to have if you have a mortgage. The ability to earn points on mortgage payments is revolutionary, especially when you don't need to use the card for the mortgage payments while still collecting points.
What's even more impressive about this card is the more than $700 in annual benefits, considering it doesn't have any annual fee. It has us continually scratching our heads, wondering what the catch is. But it appears there isn't one. Just remember that you still need to spend $1,000 each month with the Mesa Homeowners Card if you want to collect mortgage payment points.
