Almost every major airline has a dining program affiliated with its frequent flyer program, enabling you to earn points every time you dine at a member restaurant. Most of these programs have signup bonuses to earn additional miles and points, so here is a roundup of what is available out there. Note: These are for new signups only. If you have an account in one program, try signing up for another to pick up some bonus points/miles in that program.
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan
Alaska’s offer is pretty straightforward and simple: pick up 1,000 bonus miles when you spend $30 or more by March 31, 2017. The offer is valid at participating restaurants only, and you must register by March 31, 2017, to take advantage of this offer.
American Airlines AAdvantage
The AA offer is a little more complicated than Alaska’s and is tiered so that the more you dine out, the more miles you will earn. To receive the bonus, you need to complete your dining out within the first 30 days of joining the program. Again, you have until March 31, 2017, to register for the offer. The promotion breaks down as follows at participating restaurants:
- 1,000 miles for spending $25 or more
- 500 miles for spending $25 or more on your second visit to a participating restaurant
- 500 miles for spending $25 or more on your third visit to participating restaurants.
Delta Air Lines SkyMiles
The Delta offer is very similar to American's offer, in that it is tiered and designed to get you to visit several establishments to maximize your bonus earning. To receive the bonus, you need to complete the visits to participating restaurants during the first 30 days of joining the program. To participate, you must enroll by March 31, 2017. The offer breaks down as follows:
- 500 miles after spending $30 or more
- 1,000 miles after spending $30 or more on your second visit
- 1,500 miles after spending $30 or more on your third visit.
United Airlines MileagePlus
The United offer is valid through March 31, 2017. It is similar to Delta’s and AA’s in that it is tiered and requires multiple visits to participating restaurants to maximize your bonuses. It breaks down as follows:
- 1,500 miles after spending $25 or more on your first visit
- 500 miles after spending $25 or more on your second visit
- 500 miles after spending $25 or more on your third visit.
Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards
The Southwest offer is another one that is valid until March 31, 2017. To earn the bonuses, you must complete your visits in the first 30 days of enrollment. The offer is only valid at participating restaurants and is tiered with multiple visits needed to earn your maximum bonus. The promo breaks down as follows:
- 500 bonus points after spending $25 or more on your first visit
- 250 bonus points after spending $25 or more on your second visit
- 250 bonus points after spending $25 or more on your third visit.
The Hilton Honors promotion is valid until March 31, 2017. Tiered like the others this offer requires multiple visits to participating restaurants to maximize your bonus earnings. The offer breaks down as follows:
- 1,000 Honors points after spending $30 or more on your first visit
- 500 Honors points miles for spending $30 or more on your second visit
- 500 Honors points after spending $30 or more on your third visit
- After each visit, complete an online review within 30 days.
Spirit Airlines FREE SPIRIT
You must signup by March 31, 2017, to benefit from the bonuses in this promotion. Once you have signed-up, you have 30 days to visit a participating restaurant and take advantage of the promotion. The promotion is very simple: spend $30 or more, and you will earn a 1,000 points bonus.
Orbitz Rewards Dining
To benefit from the offer, you must signup for the Orbitz Reward Dining program by August 30, 2017. After signing-up, you need to spend $25 or more at any of the participating restaurants during your first 30 days of membership. Make sure to pay with your registered Debit or Credit card, and you will earn $5 in bonus Orbucks.
The bottom line is that everybody needs to eat, so if you are a points and miles collector, why not take the opportunity to earn some extra miles or points for doing something you would have done anyway?
P.S. Don't think you can game this one by registering the same credit card with each program. If you register a credit card in one program and then register it in a different program, it'll automatically unregister from the first. You'll notice the websites for all of these programs look virtually identical — they're all administered by the same organization.
