Singapore KrisFlyer has announced it will improve its KrisFlyer Miles redemption rates starting July 1, 2025. These updated rates will apply to Singapore Airlines and Scoot flights, as well as redemptions through KrisShop, Kris+, and Pelago. The changes affect how you use KrisFlyer miles to pay for part of a cash purchase.
Here's what you need to know.
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer to Improve the Rates of Select Redemptions
Mile and cash redemptions
Singapore is improving the exchange rate when you use KrisFlyer Miles to partially offset the cash portion of a ticket on Singapore Airlines and Scoot flights.
- Current exchange rate: 105 KrisFlyer Miles per S$1 (about $0.78 USD)
- New exchange rate: 100 KrisFlyer Miles per S$1 (about $0.78 USD)
Additionally, the minimum number of miles required for these redemptions has decreased slightly, from 1,050 miles to 1,000 miles. So they’re just a bit more accessible.

Depending on how you redeem your KrisFlyer Miles, these changes are generally positive. Redemptions for flights on Scoot and Singapore offer about a 5% improvement in value. While modest, it's still better than nothing — or any sort of devaluation.
Non-flight redemptions
Singapore is also enhancing the value of miles for non-flight redemptions through KrisShop, Kris+, and Pelago. The new redemption rates are:
Current Redemption Rate | New Redemption Rate | |
---|---|---|
Kris+ | 150 KrisPay miles = S$1 Minimum transfer 15 KrisPay miles | 100 KrisPay miles = S$1 Minimum transfer 10 KrisPay miles |
KrisShop | 125 KrisFlyer miles = S$1 Minimum transfer 1,000 KrisFlyer miles | 100 KrisFlyer miles = S$1 Minimum transfer 1,000 KrisFlyer miles |
Pelago | 150 KrisFlyer miles = S$1 Minimum transfer 1,050 KrisFlyer miles | 100 KrisFlyer miles = S$1 Minimum transfer 1,000 KrisFlyer miles |
These improvements for non-flight activities are more significant and, in the case of Kris+ and Pelago, deliver a 50% increase in value.

When will these changes take effect?
The new redemption rates will take effect on July 1, 2025. It may be worth waiting until then to benefit from the improved rates.

Should You Redeem KrisFlyer Miles for Anything Other Than Award Flights?
Even with the improved exchange rate, using your KrisFlyer Miles this way generally offers poor value and isn’t the best use of your miles. At the new rate, you get about one Singaporean cent per mile (roughly $0.78 USD), while redeeming for award flights can deliver significantly better value.
On average, AwardWallet members have been able to achieve 2.37¢ per mile, nearly two and a half times higher than using miles for partial payment. Unless you have miles you absolutely cannot use, you’ll almost always be better off redeeming them for award flights.
And if you’re short on miles to complete an award booking, remember that KrisFlyer has plenty of transfer partners:

Our Take
Overall, the improved redemption rates are positive news for Singapore KrisFlyer members, but the value is still generally underwhelming. Still, it’s good to have this option available if you ever need it.
