American Airlines just relaunched its annual promotion to offer bonus miles on Stand Up To Cancer donations. Now through September 30, 2026, AAdvantage members can earn 25 bonus miles per dollar on eligible online Stand Up To Cancer donations of $25 or more.

Even better, you'll earn a whopping 50X miles when making a donation using an AAdvantage co-branded Mastercard — until qualifying donations made with an eligible Mastercard reach $5 million. While that sounds like a lofty goal, this cap is usually hit after just a couple of days. So, don't delay if you want to take advantage of earning 50X AAdvantage miles!

Here's how to donate and get your bonus miles.

AAdvantage Miles for Stand Up To Cancer Donations

From August 13 to September 30, 2026, eligible donations made to Stand Up To Cancer can earn even more AAdvantage miles. AAdvantage members typically earn 10 miles per dollar donated to Stand Up To Cancer. But for the next month and a half, AAdvantage members will receive 25 miles for every dollar donated when donating at least $25 and listing their AAdvantage number at the time of donation.

Even better, AAdvantage members who donate through the dedicated 50X promotion page using a U.S.-issued American Airlines AAdvantage Mastercard will receive 50 bonus miles per dollar donated. That's 50 miles for every dollar donated!

The terms don’t name which cards are eligible. Instead, they require payment with an American Airlines AAdvantage Mastercard issued in the U.S., with the account open and in good standing during the promotional period. That should include the following card products:

To earn bonus miles, you'll need to donate at least $25. After that, you can donate any whole dollar amount, up to a maximum of $10,000. A donation of $25 will earn 625 AAdvantage miles, while a $100 donation earns 2,500 miles.

If you charge your donation to an American Airlines AAdvantage Mastercard, your miles will be doubled:

  • $25 donation = 1,250 miles
  • $50 donation = 2,500 miles
  • $100 donation = 5,000 miles

Terms and Conditions

  • These are considered bonus miles, so they don't count as Loyalty Points toward status qualification.
  • The 50X offer ends on September 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT — or when qualifying Mastercard donations reach a combined $5,000,000.
  • The 25X offer continues through September 30 regardless of whether the 50X cap is reached.
  • Bonus miles will be deposited in your AAdvantage account by December 1, 2026.
  • Donations can only be accepted in U.S. dollars.
  • Donations through this promotion are non-refundable.
  • Each mile is valued at 3 cents per mile for charitable deduction purposes. Stand Up to Cancer states that “due to the value of AAdvantage® bonus miles, donations of $75 and above are not tax-deductible.​” But check with your tax advisor for your situation.

What Is Stand Up To Cancer?

Stand Up To Cancer is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization established in 2008 to fund cancer research. It says it has raised more than $800 million for research. Its inaugural 2008 telecast was viewed in more than 170 countries and helped raise over $100 million. SU2C says 100% of donations received support its collaborative cancer research programs, while the American Association for Cancer Research serves as its scientific partner.

Our Take

This is a great promotion, considering you can effectively buy AAdvantage miles at 2 cents each. That's less than the 2.26 cents each through the ongoing American Airlines buy miles promotion. And this is a great way to gain a nice chunk of miles for your donations if you're a fan of donating to cancer research. And if you're just looking at buying more AAdvantage miles, this is currently your best chance to do so.

Some American Airlines AAdvantage awards cost as little as 5,000 miles. You'd only need to donate $100 using an American Airlines AAdvantage Mastercard to earn enough miles to book such an award. That's nothing short of a win-win.
