Getting elite status for free, thanks to holding the right credit card, through your existing elite status, or by status matching from another program. Here are all the shortcuts to rental car elite status.

National Car Rental credits do not expire. However, once you have accumulated enough credits, your credits are converted to a Free Day rental. And these Free Days expire on December 31 on the year after they were issued.

National is bringing back its lucrative One Two Free Promotion for 2019. With the offer, you earn a free rental for every two qualifying rentals between now and February 29, 2020. Registration is required before your first rental to receive credit.

National has announced a promotion granting American Express card members Emerald Club Executive status when signing up with Emerald Club by January 31, 2019. The promotion is only open to new National Emerald Club members, and Executive status is valid through February 28, 2020.

National’s Popular ONE TWO FREE promotion is back for 2018. This year members will earn a free day rental for every two qualifying rentals or 600 points earned with the One Two Free promotion. As with previous versions of the promotion, there are a handful of other ways to opt-in points apart from just the actual car rental with National.

Individual emails are being sent to National Emerald Club Members to pre-register for this fall’s One Two Free promotion. We can only assume the promotion will be virtually identical to the 2017 version; if so, you'll earn a free rental day for every two rentals of a midsize or large car. As a bonus if you pre-register by August 8, 2018, you will receive a free day’s rental coupon. So, check your emails to see if you have received the offer!
