Good news for those with the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card: U.S. Bank says it will match donations to eligible charities and nonprofit organizations. This is a new, permanent benefit for cardholders starting September 13, 2023.
The 100% match applies to using your card's points to donate to eight eligible nonprofits and charities:
- American Red Cross
- Eco Challenge
- Habitat for Humanity
- Human Rights Campaign
- National CAPACD
- Operation Homefront
- United Negro College Fund
- United Way
When using your points to donate to charities, points are worth 1¢ apiece. Thus, a donation of 1,000 points would lead to a $10 donation. U.S. Bank would match that, for a total donation of $20. Note that the 100% match only applies to donations using points, which must be done in the Altitude Rewards Center. Steve Mattics, head of Retail Payment Solutions for U.S. Bank, said this effort is a way to “reflect our commitment to the communities we serve.”

How To Make a Donation
If you'd like to make a donation using the points from your Altitude Go, you can do that on the U.S. Bank website or in the mobile app.
From the website, select your Altitude Go card and choose “Go to rewards & benefits.” From here, click on “Redeem rewards.” Within the U.S. Bank mobile app, click on your Altitude Go card, then choose “Redeem or View my rewards.”
Points will be worth 1¢ when redeemed in the portal, and US Bank will match the value of your donation if it's made to one of the eligible organizations mentioned above.
Our Take
There are many reasons why you might want to support an eligible charity or nonprofit. If you're planning to do so, you'll be happy to hear that U.S. Bank will match certain donations. To qualify for matching donations, you must donate to one of the eight eligible organizations above, must do so using points, and the points must come from the Altitude Go. At this time, points from other credit cards aren't eligible for matching donations.
