Hilton recently made a slew of changes to its loyalty program including a name change to Hilton Honors. As part of the changes, Hilton had extended a status match to other hotel elites and did the same for its elite members. If you hold Hilton Honors Diamond status, you may be eligible to extend it through to March 31, 2018.

Hilton Honors Diamond status Extension Explanation

Noteworthy aspects considering the recent status match Hilton offered is that you cannot use elite status from a status match as one of your qualifying years, and you cannot extend elite status earned through a status match.

How to Extend your Hilton Honors Diamond Status

Extending your status with Hilton is quick if you're eligible. Head over to the Hilton Honors Diamond Status Extension site and complete the form. It can take up to five business days for Hilton to approve your extension.

Overall

We're used to seeing loyalty programs devalue — it's great that Hilton is offering elites an easy way to extend status. This is Hilton's way to reward those that have been previously loyal; a great benefit which truly rewards loyalty!

If you don't qualify for the Diamond status extension you can still pick up complimentary Hilton Honors Diamond via the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card or Gold status through many cards including The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card, or the The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card. Don't forget, if you spend $40,000 in a calendar year on either of the later Hilton cards, you’ll earn Diamond status for the rest of the current year and the following year. Enrollment is required for select Amex benefits.

AwardWallet Tip of The Day
Did you know that we display your elite status progress within the list of accounts? Each block in this progress bar represents an elite level. If you mouse over any of the blocks, it will show you the name of that elite level. Clicking it will open the account details on the 'Elite Levels' tab. This will show you exactly where you are regarding your elite status and what you need to do to reach the next level.

  • I have always had very good results with HH Diamond upgrades. That said, with recent devaluations I will not be requalifying – time to use the one-time extension before that benefit is yanked too.

  • Interesting seeing as to how you can get diamond through cc spend

  • great benefit! it’d really help if other programs are running more lucrative deals and/or it’s a slower year for Hilton travel

  • this is something that could really be handy in an off travel year

  • While Diamond status is wonderful to have, the differences between perks for Diamond and Gold are not earth shattering. If I have to drop back to Gold, I’ll live.

  • This is a nice benefit, however it is fairly easy to get Diamond status through several different credit cards.

  • Sebastian says:

How do I know how many Points I did earn all together in my Hilton-Time?

  • I don’t have HHonors Diamond, but this change sure makes aiming for it more worthwhile.

  • thanks for breaking it down . I now know that I wont qualify as I got mine through a status match . Do you know where I can check my total nights stayed thus far.

    • Hilton Honors site usually summarizes that for me, if not there, contacting them directly usually works as well.

    • Unfortunately I think the website only shows points, stays and nights from the current year. To find out anything beyond that I think you have to contact them. I really wish they would put this information on the website.
