It’s never been easier to earn Silver elite status with Spirit Airlines or upgrade to top-tier Gold. For a limited time, Free Spirit is running two status upgrade offers in partnership with Loyalty Status Co. And through these offers, you can go from no status to Silver for $79 or upgrade to Gold starting at $199.

Here’s how to buy Spirit Airlines status and why you might consider doing so in the first place.

Spirit Airlines Launches New Elite Status Upgrade Offers

If you’re looking to elevate your travel experience on Spirit Airlines while also reducing the burden on your wallet, earning elite status is the way to go.

Free Spirit Silver and Gold eliminates much of the nickel-and-diming from the low-cost airline experience. And for a limited time, Spirit Airlines is offering these statuses starting at $79.

Buy Free Spirit Silver status for $79

The first Free Spirit status upgrade offer is for travelers without Spirit Airlines status. These members can buy Silver status for just $79. While there’s no published end date, the offer is described as being available for a limited time.

What's more, this isn’t a traditional status match. All you need is a travel rewards credit card to be eligible — no other airline status required.

Free Spirit Silver includes benefits like priority boarding, space-available upgrades, same-day standby, and more. Unfortunately, it doesn’t include free checked or carry-on bags, but it does provide an overweight fee waiver for your first checked bag, up to 70 pounds.

And taking advantage of this offer means unlocking these benefits through December 31, 2026.

Upgrade to Spirit Gold from $199

The second Free Spirit status upgrade offer lets eligible members buy Gold status starting at $199. This offer is available to current Silver members and those who previously held Gold status. Like the Silver offer, it’s available for a limited time, though there’s no published end date.

The price you'll pay depends on what status you have (or don't have) now:

  • Silver to Gold (previous Gold members): Reclaim Gold for $199
  • Silver to Gold (new upgrades): Upgrade from Silver to Gold for $399

After upgrading, you’ll enjoy Gold status benefits through December 31, 2026.

Gold is Spirit’s top-tier status and offers the airline's best perks. Members receive a free checked bag, a free carry-on bag, and a complimentary drink and snack on board, along with benefits like complimentary Wi-Fi and space-available upgrades.

If you fly Spirit Airlines regularly and are eligible for this upgrade, this offer might be worth the splurge. The cost to buy Gold status is most likely far less than what you’d otherwise pay for these benefits individually — especially over the course of multiple trips.

Bottom Line

For a limited time, you can buy Spirit Airlines Free Spirit elite status in one of two ways: purchase Silver outright for $79 or upgrade to Gold starting at $199. If you’re planning to fly Spirit often this year, taking advantage of the offer you’re eligible for could unlock some meaningful savings over time.

There’s no published end date, so if you’re interested, you might want to act sooner rather than later.

Not quite. The Saver$ Club will help you save on fares and on extras. Meanwhile, Spirit Airlines elite status won’t save you on fares, but you’ll get fully waived seat selection and checked bag fees.
