Hertz President’s Circle is the rental car company’s top published elite status, offering perks like a 50% points bonus, access to a wider selection of vehicles, and guaranteed one-class upgrades at participating locations. Normally, earning that status requires 15 qualifying rentals or $3,000 in Hertz spending in a calendar year.
But many travelers can skip those requirements entirely. Select American Express cardmembers can enroll for complimentary Hertz President’s Circle status as a card benefit, unlocking top-tier rental car perks without needing to rent from Hertz regularly.
American Express recently updated this benefit, so eligible cardmembers may need to re-enroll by December 31, 2026, to keep their Hertz status active.
Here’s what Hertz President’s Circle includes, which cards offer complimentary status, and how to enroll — or re-enroll.
Hertz President's Circle Benefits
Hertz is one of the world's largest rental agencies, offering more than 11,000 locations across 160 countries. Hertz often offers a wide variety of cars to choose from, including luxury or specialty cars to enjoy on your next vacation.
Whether you rent once a year or every month, climbing the Hertz Gold Plus ranks makes renting a car even better. Upgrading from the basic Gold Plus level to President's Circle gives you the following benefits:
- Earn 50% more points (1.5 points per $1)
- Guaranteed one-class vehicle upgrade at participating locations
- Largest selection of vehicles in the exclusive President’s Circle lot
- Dedicated President’s Circle call center line
These benefits are in addition to benefits you receive for enrolling in the program, including a free additional driver and member-only rates.
How To Get Hertz President's Circle Status
Hertz President's Circle status normally requires 15 qualifying Hertz Gold Plus Rewards rentals or at least $3,000 in spending in a calendar year. However, travelers have multiple ways to claim status without paying for Hertz rentals.
Holding one of these cards can leapfrog you all the way to President's Circle status for free:
- American Express Platinum Card®
- The Business Platinum Card® from American Express
- Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card
- Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card
- Enrollment is required for select Amex benefits.
You can also get Hertz President's Circle with Marriott Bonvoy® Ambassador Elite status, Delta Platinum or Diamond Medallion status, or as a cardholder of the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.
- 10X miles per $1 on hotels and rental cars booked via Capital One Travel
- 5X miles per $1 on purchases through Capital One Entertainment
- 5X miles per $1 on flights when booking via Capital One Travel
- 5X miles per $1 on vacation rentals booked via Capital One Travel
- 2X miles per $1 on all other eligible purchases

How to get Hertz President's Circle Status with the Platinum Card®
If you are a cardholder of the Platinum Card® or Business Platinum Card, you can earn Hertz President's Circle, Avis Preferred, and National Rental Car Emerald Club Executive status.
Even if you've enrolled in the past, make sure you re-enroll in the benefit by December 31, 2026, to continue enjoying your benefits. If you don't, Hertz could remove your access to the American Express Customer Discount Program (CDP) from your profile, and you could lose your elite status.
To enroll (or re-enroll), log in to your account, go to your Benefits section, and select “Learn More” on the Car Rental Privileges tile.
Next, click the arrow to learn about enrolling in each program, then click “Enroll Now.”
You'll be taken to the enrollment page, where you can enter your Hertz Gold+ loyalty number and review the terms and conditions to complete your enrollment request. Within 72 hours, your enrollment should be processed, and you'll receive a confirmation email when it's complete.
Additionally, Platinum Card® members can use the CDP 211762 and pay for the rental using their card to receive additional benefits, including:
- A four-hour grace period on returns in the U.S.
- Up to 20% off published base rates.
- Receive a car upgrade on certain vehicles with a 24-hour advance reservation (when available).

How to get Hertz President's Circle Status with the Delta Reserve
Delta Reserve and Business Delta Reserve members also have an opportunity to get Hertz President's Circle status. If you are not already a member, you can join for free.
Once you're a member, link your Hertz Gold Plus Rewards account to the “Car Loyalty Program” section of the Other Loyalty Programs page in your SkyMiles profile. Next, on the Promotion Details page, click “Enroll in Promotion” to receive complimentary President’s Circle Status.
Your President's Circle status will be reflected in your account within eight weeks of enrollment. This offer is only available to Hertz members in the U.S. who are 21 years or older.

Our Take
Previously, the Capital One Venture X was the only card offering complimentary Hertz President's Circle status. Now, cardholders of the Platinum Card® and Delta Reserve (and business versions of both cards) can enroll in top-tier Hertz status. Make sure to re-enroll by December 31, 2026, to continue with uninterrupted President's Circle status.
Even if Hertz isn't your agency of choice, remember that you can then use this status to match to other rental car programs.
