Pair with other Wells Fargo credit cards

A key part of any rewards strategy is building the right credit card pairing, and the Wells Fargo Autograph is a great candidate to pair with other Wells Fargo cards. In fact, that might be one of the main reasons to consider the card in the first place, as it lets you stack benefits and get more out of every purchase.

Here are a few cards you could pair with the Wells Fargo Autograph.

  • Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card(Rates & Fees): Earn 5X points on hotels, 4X on airlines, and 3X on dining and other travel purchases. Cardholders can earn a $50 annual statement credit with a $50 minimum airline purchase.
  • Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card (Rates & Fees): Earn an unlimited 2% cash rewards on purchases without the need to track spending categories or activate rewards quarterly.
  • Wells Fargo Attune℠ Card: Earn 4% cash rewards on self-care, select sports, recreation, entertainment, and planet-friendly purchases like public transportation and EV charging. All other purchases earn 1% cash rewards.

The latter two cards on this list earn cash back, but you can combine those rewards with a points-earning card like the Wells Fargo Autograph and then transfer them to Wells Fargo’s airline and hotel partners.

Wells Fargo Autograph Application Rules and Restrictions

Before you apply for the Wells Fargo Autograph, there are a few rules and restrictions worth keeping in mind.

The first rule affects your eligibility to open the card. In the application’s terms and conditions, you’ll find the following:

“You may not qualify for an additional Wells Fargo-branded consumer credit card if you have opened a Wells Fargo-branded consumer credit card in the last 6 months.”

The second rule applies to the welcome bonus, including both the points and the introductory APR. Here’s the relevant language from the terms and conditions:

“You may not be eligible for introductory annual percentage rates, fees and/or rewards bonus offers if you have the Wells Fargo Autograph Visa® or opened one within the last 48 months from the date of this application – even if that account is closed and has a $0 balance.”

Beyond these written rules, Wells Fargo is also known to limit customers to earning one new welcome bonus every 15 months. It may also consider your overall relationship when reviewing applications, so having a Wells Fargo checking or savings account could improve your approval odds.

Bottom Line

Most no-annual-fee cards are fairly basic, but the Wells Fargo Autograph is anything but. It’s also a great time to apply, as new applicants can earn 20,000 bonus points when you spend $1,000 in purchases in the first 3 months - that's a $200 cash redemption value.

The card is great on its own, but it becomes even more powerful if you play the long game and pair it with its annual-fee-carrying counterpart, the Autograph Journey — or the no-annual-fee Active Cash Card. This strategy will help take your rewards balance to new heights.
