The Wyndham
The most compelling perk is simple: cardholders get a 10% discount when redeeming Wyndham Rewards points for award stays. That can make the card worth keeping if you occasionally stay at Wyndham properties, already have Wyndham points, or want a no-annual-fee way to make future redemptions stretch a bit further.
You’ll also get automatic Wyndham Gold elite status, no foreign transaction fees, and the ability to earn bonus points after meeting an annual spending threshold. Here’s what to know about the Wyndham Earner Card and how it compares with other ways to earn and redeem Wyndham Rewards points.

- 5X points on Hotels by Wyndham
- 3X points on eligible Vacation Club, dining and grocery store purchases (excluding Target® and Walmart®)
- 1X points on all other purchases (excluding Vacation Club down payments).
Wyndham Earner Card Pros
- $0 annual fee.
- Complimentary Wyndham Gold elite status.
- Annual bonus of 7,500 bonus points each anniversary year if you spend $15,000 on eligible purchases
- Redeem 10% fewer Wyndham Rewards points for awards with Wyndham.
Wyndham Earner Card Cons
- Limited earning bonus categories.
- Wyndham hotels are not very aspirational.
- No anniversary points without spending heavily on the card.

Wyndham Earner Card Welcome Bonus
Earn 30,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days, plus 45,000 bonus points after spending $500 at Hotels by Wyndham in the first 180 days.

Wyndham Earner Card Benefits
Besides the welcome bonus, the Wyndham Earner Card has some decent benefits that may make it worth keeping. Remember, the Wyndham Earner Card has $0 annual fee, so there isn't much of a downside to keeping it each year.
Complimentary Wyndham Gold elite status
While Wyndham Gold elite status isn't worth a ton, it does offer increased earnings on paid Wyndham stays as well as a few minor perks. These include a preferred room choice and late checkout (subject to availability), plus the 10% bonus earnings.

No foreign transaction fees
If you're traveling outside the country, rest easy knowing you won't pay any foreign transaction fees when you use your card abroad.
Discount on award stays
This is probably the best perk of the Wyndham Earner Card: You'll pay 10% fewer points when redeeming for free nights through the Wyndham go free program. That is a savings of 1,500 points per night on a hotel in the 15,000 point category, meaning you only pay 13,500 points per night instead of 15,000.
Anniversary points
Each year on your anniversary, you'll receive 7,500 bonus Wyndham Rewards points if you've spent at least $15,000 in purchases on the card. Since the earning rates on the Wyndham Earner Card aren't great (see below), this probably isn't a great use of spending.
Wyndham Earner Card Earning Rates
On everyday purchases, you'll earn Wyndham Rewards points at the following rates:
- 5X points on Hotels by Wyndham
- 3X points on eligible Vacation Club, dining and grocery store purchases (excluding Target® and Walmart®)

- The Wyndham Rewards Earner® Card is the card we are talking about here, which comes with basic perks and no annual fee
- The Wyndham Rewards Earner® Plus Card has some similarities — including the 10% discount on award stays — but offers better perks and a higher elite status tier with a $95 annual fee. See our full Wyndham Earner Plus Card review for more details.
- A relatively new addition, the Wyndham Rewards Earner® Premier Card comes with a hefty $395 annual fee but ups the perks, including a 25% discount when redeeming Wyndham Rewards points.
- If you're in the market for a business credit card, the Wyndham Rewards® Earner℠ Business Card can be another good option, coming with plenty of perks for a $149 annual fee. See our full Wyndham Earner Business Card review for more details.

The earning rates on the Wyndham Earner Card aren't much. In most cases, you're likely to find a different credit card with better earning rates, with the possible exception of Wyndham hotels. If you have great uses for Wyndham Rewards points, you might also find value in using this card for dining and grocery purchases. If not, you're probably better off spending with another card in most cases.

Redeeming Points With the Wyndham Earner Card
On average, AwardWallet users redeem Wyndham Rewards points for 1.4¢ apiece. Here's a look at the many ways you can redeem Wyndham Rewards points and which will provide good value.
Wyndham go free stays
The most straightforward way to redeem your Wyndham points is for free stays at Wyndham hotels. Wyndham currently has a three-tier award chart; hotels cost 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per night, though note that Wyndham is moving to a 4-tier award chart in September 2026. This will mean adding a 45,000 point tier and changing the 7,500 point tier to be only 5,000 points per night.
And with the Wyndham Earner Card, you get a 10% discount on all go free redemptions, meaning a free night could cost as few as 4,500 points.
Historically, one of the best uses of Wyndham Rewards points was using them to stay at Vacasa vacation rentals. Sadly, the Wyndham / Vacasa partnership came to an end in November 2025, however you can still find some good value with Wyndham Rewards. If you're looking for stays at larger properties like vacation rentals, Wyndham still has a partnership with Cottages.com. And included in the go free stays are stays at Club Wyndham resorts or timeshares, which often come with a full kitchen and more resort-like amenities.

Wyndham go fast stays
Wyndham's cash + points booking option is called go fast. You'll pay a small points copay (often around 3,000 Wyndham Rewards points) and a cash amount for each night. Run the numbers on the particular hotel you're looking to book, as this typically doesn't provide great value for your points.
Gift cards, merchandise, and other redemption options
This option is your last resort, but you can redeem Wyndham points for things like gift cards, experiences, merchandise, point transfers, or even an AARP membership. Generally, you'll get poor value from your points here.

Application Restrictions
As a Barclays-issued product, the Wyndham Earner Card is subject to the bank's credit card application restrictions. Anecdotally, Barclays will consider the number of credit cards you've opened recently and recent inquiries showing on your credit report.
You also may not receive the bonus on this card if you currently have or have had the card. From the offer terms:
“These bonuses and/or incentives are intended for applicants who are not and have not previously been Wyndham Rewards Earner® cardmembers. You understand and agree that you may no longer be eligible for any bonuses and/or incentives in connection with a new Wyndham Rewards Earner® Card Account after this Card Account is opened. If you receive a bonus or incentive for which you are not eligible due to your status as a current or former Wyndham Rewards Earner® cardmember, we may revoke the bonus or incentive, or reduce your points by the amount of the bonus or incentive or charge your Card Account for the fair value of the bonus or incentive, at our sole discretion.”

Is the Wyndham Earner Card Worth It?
Yes, the Wyndham Earner Card can absolutely be worth it. This is especially true if you're an infrequent Wyndham traveler who maybe has a stash of Wyndham Rewards points and wants to keep the access to the 10% redemption discount without paying an annual fee. If you are looking for more perks (like top-tier Diamond Elite status or a higher redemption discount), one of the other Wyndham credit cards might be a better fit.
Bottom Line
Wyndham properties aren't always the most aspirational ones out there, but Wyndham has a huge global footprint, meaning you're likely to find plenty of uses for your Wyndham Rewards points. This can make the Wyndham Earner Card a valuable wallet addition that makes each stay more rewarding. Access to a quality welcome bonus provides Wyndham Rewards points usable for stays through the Wyndham portfolio. Plus, you'll get access to the 10% award discount — a great perk for a card with no annual fee.
