It’s not every day you find an airport hotel you actually look forward to returning to — let alone one with a full-size retired KLM 747 parked outside your window. But that’s exactly what keeps pulling me back to the Corendon Apartments Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
What started as a stay near the Amsterdam airport to tour the 747 has turned into one of my favorite long-stay options, thanks to spacious studios, convenient amenities, and a unique AvGeek experience.
Here's what keeps me returning to the Corendon Apartments Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, which is bookable as a Residence Inn property through Marriott Bonvoy.
Spacious Apartments
Corendon Apartments Amsterdam Schiphol Airport offers 516-square-foot studio apartments with either two twin beds or one king bed. If your group needs more places to sleep, some of these apartments have a sleeper sofa. Otherwise, you'll get a rather comfortable standard sofa.
These studio apartments feel spacious due to their layout. Upon entering the room, you'll walk into a hallway featuring ample shelving, a closet with hangers, and a desk workstation.
At the end of the hallway is a kitchen, which features a sink, dishwasher, mini refrigerator, 4-burner stove top, microwave, coffee maker, and water kettle. And, if you're lucky, a view of a 747 right outside the window.
The hotel provides pots and pans for cooking as well as enough plates, cups, and utensils for three people.
Behind the kitchen is the living room, with a two-person couch, a soft chair, a kinda-akward stool, and a small table with seating for two. The TV is on the small side, but at least it is a smart TV capable of connecting to streaming services.
Next to the living room is the bedroom, which features a firm yet comfortable bed.
Finally, as you circle back toward the entrance, you'll find the bathroom sink, shower room, and toilet room.
I found this apartment comfortable and spacious while traveling with my wife. Rates start at around 90 euros (about $104) — or 30,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. These rates make Corendon Apartments Amsterdam Schiphol Airport an affordable option for those who need to crash by the airport between flights — or don't mind commuting into the city to sightsee.

Retired KLM 747-400
What originally drew me to this hotel is the fact that it features a preserved KLM Boeing 747-400 on the hotel grounds. And this retired Queen of the Skies doesn't disappoint.
Unfortunately, you can't book an apartment with a guaranteed airport view — although you can in the adjacent Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. However, I've had success asking nicely for a plane view at check-in.
You can tour the inside of the 747-400 daily at 11 am. Tours are often led by retired flight attendants who now work at Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. During each tour, you can walk through the galleys and see the sprawling economy cabin.
Plus, you'll climb upstairs into the upper deck and walk through the business class cabins.
This all-access tour lets you check out the crew rest, see the black box, and even sit in the cockpit.
Tours are complimentary for Marriott elite members who are staying overnight. But you don't even need to stay at the hotel to tour the Corendon 747. Tickets can be purchased at reception.
Frequent Airport Shuttle
Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport offers a complimentary shuttle between Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and the hotel. The shuttle runs every thirty minutes, starting with a 4 am departure from the hotel and ending with an 11:15 pm departure from the airport.
To catch the bus, follow the signs for hotel shuttles to an area just outside the airport's train station. Then, wait for the bus in the A9-A13 area.
Perks for Marriott Elite Members
As a Marriott Titanium Elite member, I received a box of chocolates, two wooden shoe keyrings, a voucher for two drinks at the Mondi Skybar or Bar & Bistro, and a handwritten note welcoming me back.
A new perk that's been added since my first stay in February 2025, I also received an invitation to a daily Bonvoy Elite Borrel, which takes place daily from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm in the Bar & Bistro. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to check it out during my stay in October 2025.
The staff at reception were friendly and helpful, even proactively asking whether I'd need the 4 pm late checkout that I'm eligible for as a Titanium Elite member.

Walkable to Badhoevedorp
The location of the Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport can feel remote and isolated. The hotel has a restaurant, 747-themed bar, and even a movie theatre on-site, but the location doesn't feel walkable to any restaurants or other activities.
This isn't an issue if you plan to just overnight at the hotel before or after a flight, have your own car, or plan to use ride-hailing services or taxis to get around. While you can catch public transportation to the tourist center of Amsterdam, I wouldn't recommend this hotel location as a base for most tourists.
This being said, the apartments section is great for digital nomads like me. The location is about a 20-minute walk to the center of Badhoevedorp — with its grocery stores and restaurants — via a set of paths through parks, by churches and schools, and even passing by a community zoo.
My wife and I enjoyed walking into Badhoevedorp most days to get some steps and pick up groceries to cook in the apartment.
Bottom Line
If you need an overnight near Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, or are an AvGeek, I highly recommend visiting Corendon Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
There's something special about seeing a 747-400 outside your window. And there's something even more special about walking underneath it while strolling through the hotel's garden.
The apartments are comfortable for extended stays and often available for a reasonable rate. So, I'll likely return to the Corendon Apartments Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on my next extended trip to the Netherlands.
