Frontier Airlines just rolled out a shortcut to its top published elite tier. For a limited time, travelers can register for the Frontier Platinum Status Challenge, pay a $99 fee, and earn Platinum status through 2026 by collecting only 12,500 elite status points within 90 days. Usually, Platinum status requires earning 50,000 points.
Platinum members enjoy free carry-on and checked bags, priority boarding, and complimentary seat selection. Starting in 2026, upgrades to Frontier’s upcoming First Class cabin will also be included. But the headline benefit is unlimited companion travel: bring a companion on every flight for just the cost of taxes and fees.
Here’s how this challenge works — and whether it’s worth your time.
What Is Frontier Miles Elite Platinum Status?
Over the past few years, Frontier Airlines has revamped its elite tiers to deliver more benefits for those who frequently fly with the low-cost carrier. Now, Frontier is taking things to the next level with The New Frontier. Elite Platinum Status, which typically requires 50,000 points, is receiving some excellent new benefits.
A brand new benefit for Elite Platinum Status members is unlimited companion travel. This benefit allows you to take a companion on every flight for only the cost of taxes and fees, starting at $5.60. The companion travel benefit is valid on all flights, except those booked through the GoWild! Pass program.

In 2026, Frontier will introduce First Class seating. When this launches, Elite Platinum Status members and above will receive complimentary First Class upgrades, subject to availability. UpFront Plus and First Class upgrades do not apply to any companions or other travelers on the booking.

How to complete the Status Challenge
Earning 12,500 Status Points within 90 days will take a bit of effort. Basic members earn 10X points per dollar on flights and travel extras, while Elite Silver and Elite Gold members earn 12X and 14X points, respectively. As such, members can earn Frontier Elite Platinum status with this opportunity after spending just $1,250 on flights, or even less if you have existing elite status.
In addition to earning points with flights, FRONTIER Airlines World Mastercard® holders earn 1 point per dollar spent on all purchases.
