With gas prices still eating into budgets, every dollar of savings at the pump makes a difference. Chevron Rewards, the free program covering Chevron, Texaco, and ExtraMile locations, is making a strong play for new members this summer.
When you join Chevron Rewards, you can earn up to $1 off per gallon on your first 5 fill-ups. Here's a recap of the Chevron Rewards program and everything to know about the new promotion.
What Is Chevron Rewards?
Chevron Rewards (sometimes called Chevron Texaco Rewards) is the loyalty program for Chevron, Texaco, and ExtraMile convenience stores in the United States, with points earned shared across all three brands. Membership is free, and members need to provide their phone number at sign-up. Enter it at the pump or the register, or pay through the app, and the transaction automatically earns points.

Unlike Shell's Fuel Rewards program, which features status tiers and instant cents-per-gallon discounts, Chevron Rewards members earn points in a points bank. You accumulate points on every qualifying fuel purchase and on select in-store items, then choose when to cash them in for a per-gallon discount. The nice thing with this structure is that you control the timing of your discount, so that you can save your redemption for a long-haul fill before a road trip.
The program also ties into ExtraMile, the convenience store brand at many Chevron stations, where specific in-store purchases add points on top of what you earn at the pump.
Points don't expire so long as you earn points every 90 days.
How to earn Chevron Rewards
Earning is pretty simple in the Chevron Rewards program. You'll earn 5 points per gallon of Chevron or Texaco-branded fuel at participating stations. So, a 20-gallon fill-up earns you 100 points.
When it comes time to redeem, you'll be able to do so in the following ways:
- 50 points: 5¢ off per gallon
- 100 points: 10¢ off per gallon
- 250 points: 25¢ off per gallon
- 500 points: 50¢ off per gallon
As you can see, each band is locked at the same redemption rate: 1 cent off per gallon per 100 points redeemed. This program offers no real incentive to save points for the highest redemption level. But you will need the required points to redeem a discount, so you can start saving after a 10-gallon fill-up.
New Chevron Rewards Members Unlock $1 Off Per Gallon
New Chevron Rewards members can save up to $1 off per gallon on up to five fill-ups at a Chevron or Texaco station within the first 90 days of membership. These fill-ups are limited to 25 gallons, effectively capping the savings at $25 per fill-up.
Members must sign up before September 30, 2026, and be 16 or older to take advantage of the savings. Also, make sure you're filling up at a participating station, which you can see in the Chevron app.
Other programs like Shell Fuel Rewards offer new sign-up bonuses, but they top out at 30 cents per gallon on a third fill-up, rather than up to $125 in potential savings with Chevron.
Remember, you can always stack your savings by using one of the best credit cards for gas purchases. I love the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi because I try to fill up at Costco stations for 5% cash back, but the card still rewards 4% cash back (up to $7,000 each year) at other gas stations.
Non-Costco members will probably prefer the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Citi Strata Premier® Card (Rates & Fees), or Wells Fargo Autograph® Card (Rates & Fees), all of which earn 3X transferable rewards at gas stations.

Bottom Line
Chevron Rewards is a serviceable loyalty program. It's free to join, easy to use, and worth it for the fuel discounts if a Chevron or Texaco station is on your regular route. The new member promotion is a genuine deal.
Through September 30, 2026, signing up unlocks $1 off per gallon on up to 5 fill-ups, as much as $125 in savings for a few minutes of enrollment. That's worth finding a Chevron or Texaco station to save during high-gas-price periods.
