How To Access Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Lounges in the U.S.
Access to Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses is certainly exclusive. Only passengers flying in specific cabins, with specific loyalty statuses, and certain transit passengers are eligible to enter. Furthermore, you can only visit these lounges up to three hours before your departing flight. Arriving passengers don't have access to these lounges.
Guest privileges vary depending on how you qualify for access, with many eligible passengers allowed to bring one guest traveling on the same flight.
Flying Virgin Atlantic or Delta Air Lines
The following passengers can access Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses in the U.S.:
- Virgin Atlantic Upper Class passengers, plus a guest who is also traveling on the same flight
- Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Gold members traveling internationally on Virgin Atlantic or Delta, plus one guest on the same flight
- Delta One passengers traveling internationally on Delta, with no guest access
Platinum and Diamond Medallion members traveling internationally on Virgin Atlantic or Delta, plus one guest on the same flightDelta SkyMiles - Flying Blue Platinum members traveling internationally on Virgin Atlantic or Delta, plus one guest on the same flight
- SkyTeam Elite Plus members traveling internationally, plus one guest on the same flight

At the SFO and LAX Clubhouses, Air New Zealand Gold and Elite members can also access the lounge when traveling on Virgin Atlantic's SFO–LHR or LAX–LHR route, respectively. One guest traveling on the same flight is permitted.
Eligible passengers connecting or transiting can generally access a U.S. Clubhouse when traveling internationally on the same itinerary with a same-day ticket. Exact eligibility varies by status and location, so it's worth checking the access rules for the specific Clubhouse before your trip.
Typically, access to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses is not possible when flying with partner airlines that aren't Delta. However, there is one exception at JFK. Passengers flying first class or business class on China Airlines can access the JFK Clubhouse.
Through Priority Pass
Priority Pass members also have access to U.S. Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses.
However, the LAX Clubhouse is a little different. Priority Pass members must use a standard lounge visit and pay an additional $35 per person.
Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses have specific opening hours for Priority Pass members, which are different from the full lounge hours.
Priority Pass access hours currently are:
- JFK Clubhouse: 5 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. daily

How To Access International Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses
The London and Johannesburg Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses have different access rules from U.S. lounges. Eligibility depends on factors such as your cabin, airline and elite status.
London and Johannesburg Clubhouses allow passengers traveling in Virgin Atlantic Upper Class to access these lounges. They can also bring a guest traveling on a Virgin Atlantic or Delta flight.
The London Clubhouse also allows passengers traveling in Delta One or Clase Premier on Aeromexico to access the lounge. However, these passengers can't bring any guests with them.
Passengers with elite status
London and Johannesburg allow passengers with the following elite statuses access to the lounges:
- Flying Club Gold members and a guest traveling with Virgin Atlantic. In London, guests can also travel with Delta and still be eligible to get into the lounge.
- In London, Delta SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members and Flying Blue Platinum members, and a guest traveling in Virgin Atlantic or Delta premium cabins.
- In Johannesburg, SkyTeam Elite Plus members flying Virgin Atlantic or Delta, and Virgin Australia Velocity Gold, Platinum, and Beyond members flying Virgin Atlantic can access the Clubhouse and bring one guest traveling on the same flight.
Our Take
Access to Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses is one of the many benefits for select passengers, and it's good to know if you are eligible to enter the lounges. Even if you're a Priority Pass member, you might want to use one of your passes to access a Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse before your flight.
But consider that there's a $35 per-person surcharge at the LAX Clubhouse and limited access hours — though this might still be worth paying in the right circumstances.
Have you used a Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse before one of your flights? How was your experience?
