Not only are there many card benefits, but you can also add authorized users for free — with a catch.

Let's look at the perks of the card itself, plus some of the Capital One Venture X authorized user benefits that your friends and family members get if you add them to your account.

Capital One Venture X Card Highlights

The Capital One Venture X has a lot of perks. First and foremost, it currently boasts a welcome offer of 75,000 points when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. And it charges an annual fee of $395. That's much less than other cards in the premium category.

Even though the Capital One Venture X annual fee is far less than its competitors, it's still higher than many travelers may feel comfortable paying. It's important to factor in all of the Capital One Venture X benefits that are included which help offset the price. These include:

  • A $300 annual travel credit. This is applied as a discount on the first $300 you spend booking travel through Capital One Travel.
  • 10,000 miles on your card anniversary. This starts on your first cardholder anniversary and is worth a minimum of $100.
  • TSA PreCheck or Global Entry credit. You will automatically receive credit of up to $120 when you use your card to pay the fee for either of these programs. You can get the credit once every four years.
  • Capital One Lounge access. Get unlimited access to Capital One Lounges as a carhdolder.
  • Priority Pass membership. You can access over 1,300 lounges worldwide after activating a free membership through your card.
  • Primary rental car coverage. Use your card to pay for your rental car and avoid having to pay extra for damage coverage. If anything happens, you will be covered by your card's insurance.
  • Excellent everyday earnings. 2 Miles per dollar on every purchase, every day. 10 Miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. 5 Miles per dollar on flights and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel.
  • No foreign transaction fees.

No fees for authorized users

Most relevant to this post: Capital One lets Capital One Venture X cardholders add up to four authorized users for no additional fee. This is another aspect that sets the Capital One Venture X apart from other premium cards.

By comparison, the American Express Platinum Card® charges $195 for each additional Platinum Card® for Authorized Users (Rates & Fees), and the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (Rates & Fees) charges cardholders $195 to add authorized users to their accounts.

How to Add Authorized User Cards to Your Capital One Venture X

Here's how to add an authorized user. First, go to your Capital One account online, then click on your card. From there, click “I Want To…”

Capital One Venture X Authorized User Benefits

Next, let's look at the Capital One Venture X authorized user benefits.

Lounge access

Prior to February 1st, 2026, lounge access was included at no cost for all authorized users. Unfortunately, Capital One Venture X authorized user lounge access has changed significantly since that date.

There is now an annual fee of $125 per authorized user card to add lounge access. Put another way, while adding an authorized user remains free, lounge access is no longer automatically included.

To make matters worse, Capital One also eliminated complimentary lounge access for guests. This applies to both the primary cardholder and authorized users. Moving forward, if you want to bring guests with you, there will be a fee per person per visit. The pricing is as follows:

  • $45 for Capital One lounges for guests 18+
  • $25 for Capital One lounges for children 2-17 (Children under two are free)
  • $35 for Priority Pass lounges

Note that this policy only applies to the personal Capital One Venture X. Capital One Venture X Business primary cardholders can still bring two guests for free into Priority Pass lounges. Furthermore, the authorized user lounge access fee on the Venture X Business card includes two guests, whereas the personal card does not.

Authorized user lounge access

Assuming you've paid the $125 for authorized user lounge access, there are two things you need to know.

First, Capital One Lounges can be easily accessed by showing your Capital One Venture X card and your same-day boarding pass. If you're unfamiliar with Capital One lounges and locations, check out our dedicated post.

Second, you can access Priority Pass lounges by using your authorized user card to sign up for a Priority Pass membership. Priority Pass is a network of 1,300+ lounges around the world. Once you've signed up, show your Priority Pass card (or digital card on the Priority Pass app) and your same-day boarding pass.

Hertz President's Circle elite status

Currently, authorized users will also gain the highest elite status with Hertz, known as President's Circle. President's Circle benefits include guaranteed upgrades, access to the President's Circle section of the car lot, 50% bonus points on rentals, and more. To enroll in this benefit, the primary cardholder will need to go to their online profile, then “View Rewards,” then “Benefits,” then “Hertz President's Circle.”

Keep in mind that you can book your car through Capital One Travel to earn 10X Capital One miles on rental car reservations.

Travel and purchase protections

Authorized users can also access many travel protections and insurance. Just use your card to pay for your car, flight, purchase, etc for these protections to take effect. These benefits are:

  • Primary rental car coverage: Decline the rental company's damage waiver and get up to $75,000 in coverage for loss and damage.
  • Trip cancellation and interruption insurance: Up to $2,000 per person if your flight is canceled or disrupted, or if you're unable to fly due to illness or bodily harm.
  • Trip delay reimbursement: Up to $500 per person to cover things like hotels and food if your flight is delayed by more than six hours or overnight.
  • Lost luggage protection: Up to $3,000 in reimbursements if the airline loses or damages your bags.
  • Cell phone coverage: Two claims of up to $800 each in a 12-month period if your phone is lost, damaged, or stolen. You will pay a $50 deductible per claim.
  • Purchase protection and extended warranty: 90 days of coverage if your item is lost, damaged, or stolen. If your purchase has a warranty of three years or less, you will gain an additional year of warranty through your card.

Capital One Dining and Entertainment

Capital One Venture X authorized user benefits also include access to Capital One Dining and Capital One Entertainment.

Capital One Dining

Capital One partners with world-renowned Chef José Andrés to give cardholders exclusive access to reservations and culinary experiences. With Capital One Dining, cardholders can access hard-to-get reservations at more than 350 award-winning restaurants in 11 major U.S. cities, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Miami, Washington D.C., and more.

Capital One Dining also includes access to chef collaborations, dining events, and major food festivals. In the past, this has included Taste America® by the James Beard Foundation, the MICHELIN Guide and Capital One Destination Dining Series, and the South Beach Wine and Food Festival.

Capital One Entertainment

Cardholders also have access to Capital One Entertainment, which includes tickets to sporting and music events, theatre, comedy shows, and more. Cardholders can purchase pre-sale tickets and VIP packages through Capital One Entertainment and receive on-site perks. You can pay with Capital One miles, cash, or a combination of the two.

Final Thoughts

While Capital One Venture X authorized user benefits don't include headline benefits — like a separate $300 travel credit, 10,000-mile anniversary bonus, or complimentary lounge access — authorized users get access to nearly every other perk that comes with the Capital One Venture X.

Even though there is now a fee for lounge access, the comparatively lower annual fee for doing so ($125 vs. $199 for competitors) and the ability to add four authorized users give this card a big leg up on the competition.
