Update: Here are the full details of the new Qatar Airways credit cards.
With a large North American presence and an even larger fan base, it was only a matter of time before Qatar Airways rolled out a credit card for U.S.-based applicants. While details are slim, you can now join the waitlist and receive an invitation to apply when Qatar's two Cardless credit cards go live.
Here's what we know about the new Qatar Airways credit cards.
Qatar Airways To Launch Credit Cards for U.S.-Based Applicants
Qatar Airways has a handful of co-branded credit cards offering Avios per Qatari Rial spent. Unfortunately, the cards are issued by Doha Bank and Qatar National Bank (QNB), meaning they're unavailable to applicants residing in the United States.
But U.S. applicants looking for a wallet companion earning Qatar Airways Avios directly, go ahead and circle May 3, 2024 in your calendar. Per an email sent to select Privilege Club members, Qatar Airways will launch two credit cards next month.
“[W]e're excited to share with you a preview of our upcoming Qatar Airways Privilege Club Credit Cards in the United States of America. Reserve your spot on the waitlist by May 3, 2024 to be among the first to explore their unique benefits and incredible rewards.”
There is no published name for the cards or a defined earning structure. All that's common knowledge is that one card is a Visa Signature; the other is a Visa Infinite.

The size of the welcome bonus also remains unknown. But in the email, Qatar Airways teases that those who join the waitlist (open to anyone) to receive an application will receive an additional 10,000 bonus Avios after meeting the minimum spending requirement. Hopefully, this sizable incentive means a quality welcome bonus is on the horizon.
What's Cardless?
Given that Chase issues a trio of Avios credit cards — including the British Airways Visa Signature® Card — it would have been fair to assume Chase would issue the Qatar cards, too. Surprisingly, Chase won't issue Qatar Airways' products; Cardless (through First Electronic Bank) will.
Over time, Cardless has launched interesting co-branded products for companies like LATAM Airlines, Simon, or the TAP Miles&Go American Express® Credit Card. In the past, Cardless offered cards for sports teams like Manchester United, but those days have come and gone. However, in our opinion, it's refreshing to see Qatar Airways partner with something other than the status quo.
Final Thoughts
Qatar Airways credit cards for applicants residing in the United States are on the way. While we don't know how the cards will earn Avios or what perks they'll carry, we do know that joining the waitlist is the key to banking some bonus Avios when you apply and meet the welcome bonus requirements. To be eligible for these bonus Avios, register your interest by May 3, 2024.
