Qatar Airways has officially launched reciprocal award bookings with Philippine Airlines. You might be thinking, “Why would I care about that?” Well, Philippine Airlines isn't part of a major alliance, and you can't transfer credit card points directly to Mabuhay Miles. This new partnership with Qatar allows you to book nonstop long-haul flights to Asia at great rates with fantastic availability.
Here's what you need to know about using Qatar Avios on Philippine Airlines flights, and how much it'll cost to do so.
How To Use Qatar Avios on Philippine Airlines Flights
Philippine Airlines doesn't have a massive network, so the ability to book flights using Qatar Avios might not be as relevant to your travels. However, it offers a solid way to reach Asia in comfort. The Manila-based airline mainly operates flights throughout Asia, along with a handful of routes to Australia, the Middle East, and the U.S.
Qatar isn't the first major airline to partner with Philippine Airlines. In May 2025, Alaska Airlines announced Philippine Airlines as a partner, and in November 2025, Southwest followed suit. However, at least for now, you can't use your Rapid Rewards or Atmos Rewards points for Philippine Airlines bookings. Both airlines have indicated that the ability will be added in the future, but for now, Qatar Avios are your only option.

If you're a U.S. traveler, you can fly nonstop between six cities and the Philippines:
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- San Francisco (SFO)
- Seattle (SEA)
- Chicago (ORD)
- New York (JFK)
- Honolulu (HNL)
You can also fly from Vancouver (YVR) and Toronto (YYZ). The great news is that award pricing is already live on Qatar's website, so here's how much you can expect to spend.
A flight from the West Coast (Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Vancouver) will cost 55,000 Qatar Avios in economy or 110,000 Avios in business. Flights from Honolulu cost 10,000 Avios less: 50,000 in economy or 100,000 in business.

Meanwhile, flights from the East Coast (New York or Toronto) will cost 77,250 Avios in economy or 154,500 Avios in business.

And once you're in Asia, you can also leverage your Qatar Avios for some lucrative redemptions. The two-hour hop from Manila to Taipei (TPE) would cost 12,000 Avios in economy or 24,000 Avios in business.

To go from Manila to Dubai (DXB), you'll be on the hook for 45,000 Avios in economy or 90,000 Avios in business.

If you wish to head to Australia, you'll spend roughly 27,000 Avios in economy or 81,000 Avios in business for a flight from Manila to Perth (PER).

Finally, a nonstop from Manila to Sydney will run 45,000 Avios in economy or 90,000 in business. This route is priced quite a bit higher than the Perth route, even though the flight is only an hour longer. However, it's in line with the flight from Manila to Dubai, which is roughly the same length.

How To Boost Your Qatar Avios Balance
If you think you might want to use Qatar Avios to book Philippines Airlines flights but your Privilege Club balance is low, you have a few options.
Qatar offers two co-branded credit cards for U.S. travelers, both issued by Cardless. The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card is the $99 annual fee option that allows you to earn 1X Avios on everyday purchases, 2X Avios on dining, and 4X Avios on Qatar Airways purchases. On the other hand, the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card charges $499 and allows you to earn an extra point on dining and Qatar Airways purchases.
However, you can likely do a lot better than that. Most major transferable point currencies offer 1:1 transfers to Qatar Airways Privilege Club, including American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One Miles, Citi ThankYou Points, and Bilt Points. The only ones you might be familiar with that don't transfer directly to Qatar Privilege Club are Chase Ultimate Rewards and Wells Fargo Rewards, but you aren't out of luck if you earn them.
Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer to several Avios-earning loyalty programs, including British Airways. You can freely move Avios between any of the seven programs that use Avios as a point currency. In other words, virtually any credit card that earns transferable points, ranging from the no-annual-fee Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card to the top-tier American Express Platinum Card®, can be used to boost your Qatar Avios balance.

As a last resort, you can also buy Qatar Avios. Qatar frequently runs promotions on Avios purchases, sometimes as low as 1.35¢ apiece. That means you could buy enough Avios for a one-way Philippine Airlines business class ticket from the West Coast to Manila for as low as $1,485.
Final Thoughts
You can now use your Qatar Avios for Philippine Airlines flights. What makes this so remarkable is the sheer amount of availability. At least for now, you can find almost unlimited availability across Philippine Airlines' entire network — including in premium cabins. And the rates aren't terrible, either.
I'd gladly spend 110,000 Avios for 14.5 hours in a lie-flat seat. Does Philippine Airlines have one of the most coveted business class products in the sky? Not necessarily, but more options for using your rewards are always a good thing. And if the Philippines has been on your bucket list for a while, you can now use Qatar Avios to get there in comfort.
