Back in February 2024, Hilton announced a new partnership with Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) — a collection of boutique hotels that were once aligned with Hyatt instead. The rollout has been a bit slow, with just three properties added when the Hilton-SLH partnership went live in June.

Shortly after, 18 SLH properties were bookable through Hilton. That number was supposed to expand to more than 400 properties in early July. But we just got a heads up from Hilton that a batch of properties was just added effective December 4 2024, bringing the total number of properties to “over 400 SLH properties” worldwide.

Let's look at some of the properties bookable and what your Hilton Honors points are worth on stays.

Hilton Makes Hundreds of SLH Properties Bookable Online

Hilton's map of SLH properties looks much better than it did earlier this summer. Small Luxury Hotels are located across the globe — as far north as the Hotel Ranga in Iceland and as far south as Eichardt's Private Hotel in New Zealand. It's hard to deny that each property looks stunning. On balance, SLH is an excellent addition to the Hilton portfolio. We're glad the rollout is nearing completion.

What Are Hilton Honors Points Worth Toward SLH Stays?

With the addition of Small Luxury Hotels, Hilton Honors members can now redeem points for stays network-wide. Even better, staple benefits are in store for Silver, Hilton Gold, and Diamond elites — the latter two enjoying space-available complimentary upgrades. And on top of that, elites can leverage Hilton's fifth night free benefit on standard room awards.

The perks plus the properties available are sufficient to warrant booking with cash. But what about points? If you're looking for somewhere to redeem your hard-earned stash of Hilton Honors points or put a welcome offer courtesy of a Hilton credit card to good use, should you do so at an SLH property? Let's crunch the numbers.

As a point of reference, AwardWallet users redeem each Hilton point for 0.59¢. Generally speaking, you'll be in good shape if you can redeem your points for a value greater than that — or at least close to it.

For example, you can book a night at the Tylney Hall Hotel and Gardens for as little as GBP 169. Hilton will charge you 45,000 points for the same night. This comes out to 0.48 cents per point at today's exchange rates. A bit under the average, but not terrible. Premium room rewards fare worse, per usual.

Comparatively, the Barracuda Hotel and Villas in Brazil will give you a great deal. For 90,000 Hilton points, you can book a night in a room that would otherwise cost $559. That's 0.62 cents per point!

And again, premium rooms are worth avoiding at all costs. In the example above, the cash cost is incrementally higher than the standard room, but the points cost is exponentially higher.

Final Thoughts

The rollout of SLH properties into Hilton's portfolio is great news for Hilton Honors members. Over 400 Small Luxury Hotels properties have been added to the Hilton portfolio and are now bookable through Hilton channels. And some properties are well worth the redemption.

As the rollout nears completion, you might run into an issue where one specific property doesn't yet offer redemptions. In all likelihood, these hiccups should be resolved in the near future.
