The Bilt Rewards program's neighborhood partner network has grown steadily over the past two years. Walgreens, one of the leading retail pharmacies and healthcare providers in the United States, is a big part of that neighborhood. The unique partnership between the two brands allows members to earn additional Bilt Points on their Walgreens purchases and helps them put their FSA and HSA funds to good use — automatically.

Here's an overview of Bilt's partnership with Walgreens, how it works, and what it means for you.

Overview of the Bilt and Walgreens Partnership

If you're unfamiliar with the Bilt Neighborhood, we'll start there. This program offers additional benefits or increased earning multipliers when you use a linked card at an eligible merchant. Some notable examples where you can earn bonus points or get extra perks include Lyft, SoulCycle, and the whole slate of Bilt Dining restaurants, Walgreens, and more.

All to say, you can earn Bilt Points on more than just your housing payment.

Earning Bilt Points via the Walgreens partnership

You can earn a little extra on select purchases and prescription refills at Walgreens if you're a Bilt Rewards member. Mainly, that's 2X Bilt Points per dollar spent on Walgreens-branded items and 100 points on prescription refills (subject to certain exclusions). On all other purchases, you'll earn the standard 1X Bilt Points.

You might wonder if you have to use a Bilt credit card to bank these bonus rewards. The answer is “no.”

As long as you're a Bilt Rewards member with a card linked to your account, you can take your pick of payment methods and stack your earnings. So, if you want to maximize your Walgreens spending, it might be worth linking and paying with your Chase Freedom Unlimited® (Rates & Fees), which earns 3% cash back on drugstore purchases.

Automatic Healthcare Savings program

An interesting part of the partnership is their “Automatic Healthcare Savings” program. Through it, you can shop at Walgreens after linking any debit or credit card to your Bilt account and quickly identify (Flexible Spending Account) FSA or Health Savings Account (HSA) eligible items. B

etter yet, you can apply your benefits with one click — all in the Bilt app. The credit for your purchases will be applied directly to your FSA or HSA card.

Simply put, an easy-to-use program like this should help prevent your FSA or HSA funds from going unspent.

To link, select “Pharmacy” in the Bilt App or on the homepage. Then, scroll until you see “Automatic HSA/FSA Reimbursement” and click “Link.” You'll be able to select your HSA/FSA provider on the next screen.

Next, you'll be prompted to confirm your eligibility and, if you'd like, to auto-submit all eligible purchases. Then, click “Confirm.”

It's a seamless process that can take a lot of the pain out of submitting receipts for reimbursement. However, keep Walgreens' pricing in mind compared to other stores. The extra Bilt Points might not be worth it.

Unlock Walgreens Credits With Bilt Cash

Another way to get even more out of the Bilt and Walgreens partnership is with Bilt Cash. One of the redemption options available to Bilt members is a $120 Walgreens credit, broken into $10 increments per month for an entire year. This might not be the best use of your Bilt Cash, but it's an option nonetheless.

Note: Bilt Cash expires at the end of each calendar year. Up to $100 of Bilt Cash earned rolls over to the next year.

Final Thoughts

If you're a Bilt Rewards member and a Walgreens shopper, this partnership between the two brands will better reward your spending at the latter's brick-and-mortar stores and make using your FSA and HSA funds easier. And, in the future, Bilt Rewards members can enjoy free photo prints when they stop by their neighborhood pharmacy. It's a minor benefit, but a benefit nonetheless.
