Hurricane Melissa is causing massive devastation across the Caribbean. And American Airlines is partnering with the American Red Cross to support relief efforts. To encourage members to donate, American Airlines is offering 10X AAdvantage miles donated to the Red Cross through November 18, 2025.

Here's how to donate to support hurricane relief efforts and claim your bonus miles.

Earn 10X AAdvantage Miles on Hurricane Relief Donations to the Red Cross

Through November 18, 2025, members who donate to the Red Cross will get 10 AAdvantage miles for every dollar they donate. To claim the bonus miles, members must donate a minimum of $25. However, there's no upper limit on how much members can donate to receive 10X miles.

On the one hand, this promotion means you're effectively buying AAdvantage miles for 10 cents each. If you're only interested in miles, you might utilize the current buy American Airlines miles promotion to buy them for a quarter of the price. However, this offer is about supporting the Red Cross hurricane relief efforts and getting a nice reward for doing so.

What's more, the American National Red Cross is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and contributions are tax-deductible.

How to donate to the Red Cross and earn AAdvantage miles

To donate, click this link to visit the Red Cross and add your donation amount. In the payment section, choose credit card, PayPal, or Google Pay, and also add your AAdvantage number.

Note that if you want to donate to the Red Cross but not specifically to hurricane relief, you can also select “disaster relief” which is goes to where aid is needed most,” or “your local Red Cross.” However, it's likely that most of the donations will probably go to hurricane relief at this time.

Note that the smallest donation you can make online is $10. However, to earn 10X AAdvantage miles per dollar donated, you need to donate at least $25. And again, donations are tax-deductible — less the value of the miles you receive.

Please do keep in mind that the bonus miles you'll earn do not double as Loyalty Points. Thus, they're not elite status qualifying.

Our Take

If you're keen to help with the hurricane relief efforts, this is an excellent way to do so while also getting a nice reward. Earning 10X miles is a great offer while supporting a vital cause. Just remember that you must donate at least $25 to earn bonus miles and the last day to contribute is November 18, 2025. When making donations with a credit card, make sure to use one of the best cards for everyday purchases — such as the Citi Double Cash® Card — or an AAdvantage credit card to earn additional AAdvantage miles.
