CitizenM is a chic hotel brand that may not be top of mind for award travelers, but maybe it should be. Why now? The Netherlands-based hospitality group, which operates 36 hotels across more than 20 cities in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, has just been acquired by Marriott.
While details are still limited on how and when Marriott Bonvoy will integrate with mycitizenM+ — CitizenM’s loyalty program — now might be the perfect time to complete a free status match. Here’s why.
Why Is Now a Good Time to Status Match to CitizenM?
Right now, CitizenM is offering a free status match to members of nearly every airline or hotel loyalty program. And locking in mycitizenM+ status now could pay dividends once Marriott integrates the brand. Key word: could.
It's likely that matched mycitizenM+ status will end up translating into some form of Marriott Bonvoy elite status down the line. Nothing’s been confirmed yet, but there’s no harm in submitting a match now. After all, it's completely free.
How to Status Match to CitizenM
To get started, you’ll first need to create a mycitizenM+ account by clicking “register” at the bottom of this page. Once you’ve signed up, go here to request a status match.
Once you've created your new loyalty program account, make sure to link it to your AwardWallet account. Don't have an AwardWallet account yet? Sign up for free and track unlimited rewards programs and travel plans.
You’ll be asked to provide details about your existing airline or hotel status, along with a screenshot as proof. Once you submit the form, you’ll receive an application number confirming that your match request is being processed.
After that, just wait for the confirmation, and you’ll officially be matched to mycitizenM+ status.
MycitizenM+ benefits
Once your status match is approved, you’ll receive a code to enter on the Membership section of citizenm.com. This unlocks a free 12-month mycitizenM+ membership — normally €100 (about $120) — at no cost.
Membership perks include:

- Premium view (if available)
Bottom Line
A free one-year membership to CitizenM might not seem all that exciting on its own, but with Marriott’s recent acquisition of the brand, it’s now worth a second look. It’s still unclear whether mycitizenM+ status will translate into any perks within Marriott Bonvoy, but there’s no downside to locking in the status now and seeing where the chips fall.
