If you're looking for a way to earn Avios and Oneworld elite status faster, listen up. For just a few days, you can book flights and earn double Finnair Plus Avios and tier points on the trip. But you'll need to act quickly. To take advantage of this Finnair promotion, you must book flights by August 27, 2026, for travel through March 31, 2027.
Finnair Plus Double Avios and Tier Points Promotion
This is a fantastic, no-strings promotion accessible to all Finnair Plus members. This offer is valid on flights marketed by Finnair and operated by Finnair or Norra. Codeshare flights and vacation packages are excluded. However, you will also earn double Avios and tier points on any travel extras you purchase for eligible flights, like upgrades, seats, meals, or extra baggage.
What makes this promotion so confusing is this line in the terms and conditions: “See all eligible flights on this special offers page.”
On the same page, there are a variety of special offers for flights to destinations worldwide. That language makes it seem like only routes listed on this page are eligible to earn double Avios. If that's the case, there are only four flights between the U.S. and Helsinki (HEL) that qualify:
- Chicago
- Dallas
- Los Angeles
- New York
However, Finnair flies nonstop to six cities throughout the U.S., so it's not clear whether flights to Miami or Seattle are eligible. To be safe, we recommend booking only flights listed on the promotions page. Luckily, all ticket types in all travel classes are eligible, so you can book a Superlight Economy ticket if you wish. The offer applies to both one-way and round-trip reservations.
You have until August 27, 2026, to take advantage of this promotion. The terms and conditions don't list an ending time, but we'd assume it's 11:59 PM UTC+3 (Finland time), which is 7 hours ahead of Eastern Time. So, if you live on the East Coast of the U.S., we'd recommend completing your booking no later than 4:59 PM on August 27. If you live on the West Coast, you'll only have until 1:59 PM on August 27 to finalize your travel details.
Eligible travel dates are through March 31, 2027 — meaning you have around seven months to travel through this promotion.
Here's how many tier points and Avios you'll earn based on your membership tier:
- Finnair Plus Basic: 12 per €1
- Finnair Plus Silver: 14 per €1
- Finnair Plus Gold: 16 per €1
- Finnair Plus Platinum: 18 per €1
- Finnair Plus Platinum Lumo: 20 per €1
The number of tier points and Avios you'll earn will depend on your membership tier on your date of travel, not your booking date.
Keep in mind that you can transfer your Avios between other Avios-earning programs. Even if you don't plan on flying Finnair regularly, you can take advantage of the promotion and then transfer your Avios between all the Avios-earning programs, including British Airways, Iberia, Qatar, and Aer Lingus Accounts.
