Southwest knows we're all feeling burned out, and it's rewarding us for it. With its latest “Enter Airplane Mode” promotion,
Here's what to know and how to capitalize on this promotion.
Southwest Notification Vacation
Are you the person in the friend group who constantly has thousands of unread notifications? If so, you're in luck. The Notification Vacation Points Giveaway lets you submit a screenshot of your phone's home screen showing your unread notifications.
Each unread notification equals one Rapid Rewards point. If you have less than 500 notifications, you'll still earn a minimum of 500 Rapid Rewards points. However, you can only earn up to 10,000 points, so you won't get extra perks if you have 50,000 notifications.
The giveaway lasts until October 12, 2026, at 5:00 a.m. CT. This promotion offers 150 million points, and Southwest gives away roughly 21 million points per day. You can enter only once, so take a screenshot showing your highest notification balance. The daily allotment resets at 12:00 p.m. ET, so log on to submit your screenshot as quickly as possible before points run out.

Southwest Burnout Quiz
The second part of the Enter Airplane Mode promotion is a Burnout Quiz. According to Southwest, 76% of Americans are burned out. If that seems like you, you can answer five questions, and Southwest will tell you what you probably already know: you're burned out.
If you complete the quiz by December 10, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CT, you'll earn 500 Rapid Rewards points. However, only 37 million points are available through this promotion, which means it will expire once 74,000 members have taken the quiz. You can earn points one time, and they will be awarded within seven days.

Bottom Line
Worst case scenario? You take the Burnout Quiz, show your phone free of notifications, and win a total of 1,000 Rapid Rewards points. Best case scenario? You never check your email, take the quiz, and submit a photo of thousands of notifications to earn up to 10,500 Rapid Rewards points. According to recent AwardWallet user redemptions, that's worth roughly $160 toward travel — not bad.
With so many airline promotions these days following the same template, we can't help but applaud Southwest on the creativity — and be thankful for the reminder to look up from our laptops every once in a while.
