There is a new way to earn Qatar Airways Avios thanks to a new partnership with Turo, a popular car-sharing platform. Turo now sits alongside other car rental partners like Hertz and Sixt, giving Qatar Privilege Club members even more ways to earn Avios.
Unlike the traditional car rental model, Turo is a car-sharing marketplace where members of the public can list their cars for rent through an app. It first launched in 2010 in Boston and San Francisco, and it feels very Airbnb-esque.
Currently, you can book Turo rentals in the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, and the United Kingdom. Although each host is different, many offer deliveries to airports and other travel hubs, making it a convenient alternative to traditional car rental companies. Here's everything to know about earning Avios on Turo rentals.
How To Earn Avios on Turo
If you need to rent a car and are looking to earn Avios, head to this page, and you’ll be prompted to link your Privilege Club account to your Turo account. Keep in mind that this offer is only available through Qatar Airways — at least for now. However, you can freely move your Qatar Avios to other Avios-earning programs like British Airways and Iberia.
Once you’ve linked your Privilege Club and Turo accounts, you're ready to rent. The earning rates depend on your Privilege Club elite status tier.
You'll earn Avios based on spending in the local currency. Here's how much you'll earn per 1 USD/GBP/EUR/AUD/CAD spent:
- Burgundy: 1 Avios
- Silver: 2 Avios
- Gold: 3 Avios
- Platinum: 4 Avios
Once your rental has been completed, your Avios will be awarded within 30 days. This is a simple way to make a Turo rental that you were already planning to book even more rewarding.
Terms and conditions
- Privilege Club members must register for the offer and enter their membership number to link to their Turo account here.
- All Turo bookings worldwide for any date and trip duration are eligible.
- Members will earn anywhere from 1 to 4 Avios per $1 spent through this offer.
- Avios earnings are based on total spending, including taxes and fees.
- The applicable Privilege Club tier is determined based on your status at the time of booking.
- Incidentals, fees, and other charges made after the trip has ended are excluded.
- Avios will not be earned on any trip where a promotional code or Turo travel credit is applied.
- Avios will be credited within 30 days after the rental is completed.
Double Dip on Turo Rentals
There are regularly Chase Offers, Citi Offers, or Amex Offers that allow you to save money on Turo rentals. Checking your card offers is a great first place to start if you're on a budget. However, if there aren't any available card offers or your goal is to earn as many points as possible, use a credit card that earns bonus points on Turo purchases.
According to the AwardWallet Merchant Category Lookup Tool, Turo purchases typically code as travel. Here are a few options that earn the most on general travel purchases:

While the announcement isn’t the most groundbreaking, having more ways to earn Avios can only be seen as a positive. Plus, considering so many promotions exclude taxes and fees from your earnings, it's nice that you'll earn Avios based on your entire rental. Just be sure to link your Privilege Club and Turo accounts before you book a car.
